Bragging Rights
« on: December 04, 2010, 10:13:11 am »
OK, I know it has been a little colder than usual in the UK and the outside temperature where I live has been below freezing for the past couple of days. Also I don't actually heat the room where I work as the PC and Audio equipment I use, generates enough heat to keep me more than happy. But the past couple of days I have been getting some lovely early start temperatures from my PC.

This morning, when I fired it up CoreTemp was showing only 7°C

20 minutes later and it was still only 14°C

Can you beat these figures?

you win...  :-X
I've got 37°C-39°C while starting...(outside temp 21°C)
plus I've slightly overclocked the 965 to 3.5Ghz
so the max temp won't exceed 50°C ;D
(which is enough to satisfy me ;D

My rig:
AMD 965 BE(stock)+Coolmaster HP-212P
Geil DDR3-1600
Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5
WD Caviar Blue 640GB SATA2
WD Caviar Black 1TB SATA3
WD RE3 500GB SATA2
ASUS HD 4770
Coolermaster GX 750W PSU
Gigabyte Trition case(old case)

Yes, as you can see from the images I have O/C'd my Phenom ii X6 1090T to 3.8GHz but luckily this has been done with the CPU Voltage at only 1.3V so It doesn't generate a lot of heat. Also I am using the Noctua NH-D14 which is an amazing air cooler, even if it is a little on the large side.

As I write this, it is just after 11.00 am and I have been using the PC for a little video rendering and CoreTemp is still only showing 20°C

You win ;D. Not sure about just after start but mine's idling at 25-27 degrees. Ambient isn't much lower, though. Still, I'm cheating as these values are for 800 and 1400Mhz. Above that it goes up some. At 3.5Ghz it's ~35 degrees idle. On the other hand, I'm letting bios control the fan, so it'd probably go down a little if I were to set it to max.

For the moment - I can't wait to put my gear in that HAF 932 case. That should bring my temps down a degree or 2 :P. I'm switching a few things, so I'm still waiting for the new MB to arrive.

People can be quite creative. I've bought an x2 555 BE that's guaranteed to run as a quad at 3.8Ghz. Quite a good deal if you ask me, considering that it was noticeably cheaper than 955 BE.

Btw. Don't worry, the new MB is also from Gigabyte ;D.

I had my system running at -180c last week with liquid nitrogen.  Also last year I stuck my watercooling radiator outside the window and measured -2c on my cpu.
