Kingston KHX1600C93K2/4GX RAM installed and working perfect on my 890XA-UD3!

Hi all!

Ok, I purchased the QVL listed G.skil 1600's for my AMD build and they both worked perfect!  So I am very happy about that.

I plan on doing some A/V work, so I decided to look for 8GB's of RAM.  I found 8GB's of the Kingston KHX1600C93K2/4GX RAM on sale for less than half the price of the G.skil RAM.

With more than a little bit of hesitancy I purchase the Kingston KHX1600C93K2/4GX RAM, slapped them in, and so far so good!

I will run the MEMTEST 86+ overnight and post results tomorrow!

I think I paid $119 for 4GB's of the G.Skil RAM and only $68 for 8GB's of the Kingston.  I am on a budget so this was a great deal for me.  I hope to slap the G.Skil's in my Intel system to bring it up to 8gb's too.

Thought I would post here for people who are looking for lower priced RAM that will work on the 890XA-UD3!

Hope this helps someone!

I wish I had your budget Soar!  :D

But thanks for letting us know that your cheap Kingston RAM works OK I'm sure it will help others.

I agree with absic about your budget Soar, I think it is something you and Bill Gates have in common ;)

I make the price you paid for the new memory about a quarter of the price for the old. :o

Thanks Absic!  Here in the USA Kingston has a good reputation and I am happy it works well.  They all passed MemTest 86+ with flying colors and so I'll keep them in the AMD build for now.

Hope to add the G.skil to the Intel build making it 8gb there too.

I always look for ways to save and make the most of every cent here.  Anyway, the Kingston's passed the 8hr. Memtest86+ test so all is good!

I hope to add the G.skil's to the Intel build now.  Do you think they'll work?

Remind me what memory you are already using in your Intel build, Soar. Remember that you should stick to the same make and model really otherwise you can get all sorts of trouble.

Hi again DM!

Ok, here is the RAM I presently am running in the Intel build:

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM

And here is the RAM I just pulled from the AMD build:

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ

Do you think it will work?

Hi Soar

The memory kits are composed of different modules maybe even different makes of chips. One set is much faster(tighter) than the other. The only chance you would have of getting them working together is to manually insert the timings and use the slower ones for them all. Can't guarantee it would work but worth a try.

DM,

Ok, thanks for the info.  I may try them together!  If they do not work well together, I will purchase 8GB's of exactly the same RAM and use these sticks on some new builds for friends.

Thanks again,

Soar
