H55M-D2H - Initial Boot
« on: December 22, 2010, 03:58:07 pm »
The sympton described by Kretynio in his recent post are EXACTLY as I am experiencing on my
H55M-D2H.
Unfortunatly the H55M-D2M has only one set of DIMM slots, so I cannot do the same as Kretynio.
I have replaced PSU's with no success

Hi Mike and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

We really need some more info than a vague refference to some other thread please.

Can you post the details of your system and a brief description of the problem, you are of course free to quote another thread also if you want to with a link.

Hi Dark Mantis, please find below text referred to

On first attempt at boot the fans started spinning (case, heatsink, graphics) and the power cut off after 2 seconds, after that power got cycled again (loop). The phase lights on the mobo at this stage were green, green, yellow, red. I've removed the graphics card and booted again and this time it did not cut off. However no beeps coming from motherboard just phase lights continuously on in the same configuration.

I've tried removing components (RAM, HDD, DVD) and booting just with the mobo, CPU and PSU, and same thing happens. There are no shorts (I've pulled the mobo out and tested it on a piece of cardboard) that are obvious and I have tested the PSU with a multimeter and everything seems to be in tolerance levels. The speaker is connected to the mobo in the right configuration but I haven't heard  single squeak from it even with the memory removed which would suggest motherboard problem

PSU is 400watt (Z400-08FC
Mem is 2 x 2gb DDR3 1333Mhz
CPU i3-540

Regards
Mike

Thanks, makes more sense now.

The first thing to try is to clear the CMOS.

Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.

Once done remove the motherboard battery for at least ten minutes before replacing it.

Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.

You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Opimised BIOS Defaults.

Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self and then press F10 to save and exit.
