Confused as to whether I can use 1066mhz memory or not with AM2+

I am on the verge of buying a GA-MA770-UD3 and an AMD Phenom X2 or X3. I have been looking at memory and was planning on buying 4GB (2x2GB) of 1066mhz memory

But, in the memory compatibility list it says "Note: Due to AMD AM3/ AM2+ CPU limitation, memory module of DDR2 1066 or above speed is only supported by 1 dimm per channel."

Since I am planning on using an AM2+, this is relevant.. But what does it mean? Because I am using 2 x 2GB is this not a problem? Would it be an issue if I were using 4 x 1GB?? Can someone explain/clarify what this means?? Am I better off going with 800mhz instead?

2 x 2GB of 1066mhz is OK
4 x 1GB of 1066mhz will not work - it's limitation of the CPU, not the MB. As the memory controller is build inside the CPU

Ok... but i have a Am3 cpu with my MA780G-UD3H.
You said that the limitation lies with the cpu..does that mean that i can have 1066 in all of my slots?
Cause i just got some money and was thinking about upgrading my lovely computer...:)

Like has been said 2x2gb 1066mhz will be okay. If you wanted 8GB then you may have to get ddr2 800mhz
There's no place like ::1

you can't have 1066 in all 4 RAM slots, due to CPU limitation. it will work only with 2 slots
