Having a hard time convincing tech support that this is not an issue I created or that is happening due to my configuration. Did anyone else report this? I can resume as long as the PC doesn't lose power but if it does lose power, it cycles, then the "Resuming Windows" screen comes up and then I get a black screen. It won't get any further.

----------------------
Dear Customer
We have tested it here in our lab without any issue going into and resuming from S3 mode with USB 3.0 enable/disable.
If there is an spare hdd available please attempt to test with an clean OS installation then load up the USB 3.0 driver first to test the suspend mode?

I have also reported it and have been told they cannot reproduce it.

Are you running the latest BIOS versions as I notice that there are a few that have a USB3 compatibility update on them.

I have REV 2. and I'm running the FE Bios. I actually went and got an extra hard drive and I've been doing extensive testing on this for the past 2 days. I'll post my findings when I'm done.

I had the hibernation lockups as well. It turned out to be the Intel SATA RAID Driver 10.1.0.1008 that was causing all my woes. As soon as I changed those drivers back to the 9.6.0.1014 version, all the lockups went away.

Kind of odd, but if you look at http://www.gigabyte.us, the latest driver is 9.6.0.1014 and if you go to  http://www.gigabyte.com the latest version is 10.1.0.1008. Intel's website is sporting the 10.1.0.1008 version as well and I tried these as well with the same lockups.

This may not work for you, but all my USB3 troubles disappeared when I made that change. Now I can use my speedy USB3 Diablotek enclosure and get some really nice transfer speeds!

Thank you for that really important information. I am sure that you won't be the only one with this problem and there have been other instances of a similar nature on  the forum before that may or may  not have been down to the same driver. 8)

Baldman6: Thank you for the info. Unfortunately that did not help with the resume after power loss issue. I did notice that the link in both Gigabyte sites (.us or .com) are pointing to the 10.1.0.1008 version. They probably just forgot to update the description in the .US site.  If anyone does need this version, here's a link to the Intel site: http://tinyurl.com/intel-irst-9-6-0-1014

OK. Back to my testing. These are the last 2 replies I got from Gigabyte about a week ago:

Dear Customer

Please examine all your hardware and make sure that there are no overclocking being applied. From there only have just the bare minimal components installed
- cpu along with heatsinkfan
- single stick of memory
- videocard
- single hdd and optical drive

Do attempt to reload the OS with it then test the standby mode before USB 3.0 driver then after with nothing else installed.
------------------------------------------

I went ahead and bought a new hard disk to test this. I didn't have anywhere to put the data I have in the one I had.

NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING they suggested has worked and at this point I'm giving up on this. I don't think there's anything left to test. Either the USB 3.0 driver or its firmware or the motherboard's firmware has to be fixed.

I installed as they suggested above only 4 components. The only driver I installed was my video card driver because without it the computer would not go to sleep at all.

I tested:
USB 3.0 driver: NO DRIVER / 2.0.4.0 / 2.0.30.0 / 2.0.32.0

I installed and re-installed windows 7 a total of 6 times.

There are two ways to have the system resume from hybrid sleep after power loss successfully:

1. USB3 is disabled in the BIOS
2. USB3 driver is not installed

Either way, USB3 is not usable if you want to resume from hibernation. (power loss after hybrid sleep)

This is just totally unacceptable. This driver and/or firmware has to be fixed.  >:(

There does seem to be a few issues with USB3 conflicting with other items. I am not sure if it can be fixed with a BIOS update but let's hope so. The thing is until recently there was very little on the market to enable people to use the USB3 ports fully so it is only now coming to light really and hopefully Gigabyte will be able to fix these problems.

So I wonder what happens if it cant be fixed by a revised BIOS?  Because, effectively, it renders this board faulty from manufacture and Gigabyte (or reseller depending on country of purchase) are obliged to rectify the issue by refund, replacement etc.

That is correct of course. If the board has a fault (hardware) then you would be entitled to have a repair/replacement. Your first port of call would be your retailer.

Tested new FF bios from Gigabyte and new 2.0.34.0 driver found at station-drivers.com. Results are the same. System will not resume after power loss during hybrid sleep. It will still lock up after it says "Resuming Windows" and screen goes blank.

I have disabled USB 3 for now. I can't use it like that. I may follow up with vendor to see if I can swap this motherboard for a different brand if this can't be fixed.

I also found another issue where the system just goes into a boot cycle/locks up/after attempting to resume from sleep but that is memory related. Will create a new post.

Any progress in regards to this issue? Did Anyone find a solution?

I just realized turning off USB 3.0 in the BIOS (which I've had to do in order for hybrid sleep to work properly) turns off the USB 3.0 ports in the back completely. They don't even work in 2.0 mode.

This sucks. I just lost 2 ports.

I see a new (later) BIOS is available. Has anyone tested to see if the hybrid sleep resume problem has gone away?

Hi Mark and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

Thanks for volunteering to test the new BIOS update ;D

If you have the problem and can't see any other way of fixing it then I would suggest flashing the BIOS with QFlash and then seeing if it has cured the issue.
