FIXED!!!!!!!  FINALLY!!!!!!!

New driver version 2.1.19.0 seems to fix the resume from hibernation issue.

I tested with both bios version 3.0.2.7 &  3.0.2.8 and it resumed fine with either one.

So happy this got resolved!!!

Now I'm crossing my fingers my USB3 drive will work fine. Not getting my hopes up though.

Well that is good news for you and I am sure many others too. Thanks for letting us all know the outcome. These things do tend to get fixed slowly as they go along. Just a nuisence if you are waiting for a fix.

For me I scrapped USB 3 as a waste of time & disabled them. No drivers on fresh install. Have to be
very carefull not to slow USB 2 down.

That's right you have to find a workaround that sorts thiongs for you. Often an individual thing depending on what you require most.

I use my X58A-UD3R-based system as a PVR so it's regularly going through hibernate/resume cycles, and this freeze was happening typically every 2-3 days. I tried disabling USB3 and it seemed fine for a week or so. I then tried re-enabling and using the latest controller firmware (3.0.28) and driver (2.1.25). However, I had another freeze-on-resume after about 3 days (maybe 12 hibernate/resume cycles). I disabled USB3 again but the next resume also hung. It's particularly frustrating as the hang is during the resume operation so it says nothing in the event logs; in fact, restarting the machine allows me to use the existing hibernate file and it resumes fine! I have confirmed using the Renasys utility that the controller is not enabled and is invisible in Windows.

I shall continue with the USB3 disabled just in case it was a transient effect but the next step will be to disable the Marvell SATA3 ports; I've reconfigured the existing disks so that I don't have to use it but I would like to check that disabling USB3 really doesn't fix the problem. After all, it did seem to work the first time I tried it but with such an intermittent problem it's impossible to know whether or not you have really found the problem.

I'm also running the FH3 BIOS, which is pretty up-to-date, but previous BIOS updates do not seem to have changed anything.

At the moment my X58A is not in use but....I had problems with USB 2 running at half speed. After a fair bit of testing
& reinstalls did the following: Started with clean install, USB 3 disabled, SATA 3 (Marvell) disabled. No drivers used
for them even though I use Marvell add on PCIe card SATA 3. Ignored driver missing in Device Manager yet better
ATTO results using SSD. Have not had any apparent boot up problems using IDE, SATA 2/3 drives or SSD (plug ins)
Using Win 7 Ultimate x32 & x64. I have to admit not too happy with board & also found later Acronis True Image
slowed down USB 2 yet no problems on other PCs.

Hope you manage to sort it  Oyster16.  I'm still on original bios as appears only Beta available last time I
checked.

As it happens, I have enough USB2 slots and no USB3 devices, and enough SATA2 slots and no SATA3 devices. I shall see how it goes. I wish that I had a repeatable test for the problem, though - I hate non-deterministic or intermittent faults :)

I've no idea what USB2 speed I am seeing. My fastest USB2 device is a card reader, and I suspect that my disks are the bottleneck when downloading digital photographs. I just walk away and come back when it's done!

I also just had enough USB 2 slots at rear (lost USB 3 slots) Also have 4 front USB ports at front of PC though one is channelled from rear port via
inside of case. Also use internal USB connectors.  The reason I noticed the slow down of USB 2 was using  3 different USB sticks. Though I
have network drive used USB sticks for drivers & some software. Suddenly found they took forever to load blank screen or green loader bar at top
of USB window. Could put same sticks in another PC & instant loading. Most unused files are stored on external USB network so too much to swop
to SATA 3. Boot up & shut down is fairly fast but not used for any heavy work. Runs OK with Hybrid FTA TV & Satellite card though not used it to
record, have other equipment for that. As far as I'm concerned SATA 3 & USB 3 are a total botch up on this board & it has had a few clean installs
& tested quite a lot of latest drivers. It might be worth trying the free ATTO test software for drives as the mix of Marvell & USB 3 drivers on my
board just seemed to slow things down. Even system restore didn't help so just wiped & started afresh without certain drivers. Most drivers I
use are near latest but had problems with Intel accelerator drivers on another PC & SSD, it slowed things down !!

Not sure if anyone else is still seeing this problem but for me, removing USB3 (as well as SATA3 Marvell controller) driver has not fixed the problem. The machine still hangs on resume, maybe once a week or so.

Still looking for the cause, but in my case it does not seem to have been associated with USB3 or SATA3. There is a slight question mark over the Intel RAID controller; if you look through the release notes, the latest version seems to have had a fix for an issue very like this one. Difficult to test, though, as I rely on RAID5 and it would be difficult to run without it.

FYI the newest BIOS FH (released JAN.06.2012) seems to have brought back the issue. This did not happen with FG.
