Problems with DS3P V2.0
« on: July 21, 2009, 06:10:11 am »
Hi all

I'm hoping someone has some suggestions on this issue, as it's driving me mad
When playing games, especially intense games, the sound will start to stutter/skip and the mouse will jump across the screen
At first I thought it was my XiFI soundblaster card, as these apparently have a few issues
I was advised it's due to PCI bus latency and sure enough, when using the PCI latency monitor, during the skipping/stuttering, the bar graph goes into the red. (See attachment)
Sometimes it gets bad enough that it crashes games that I'm playing
So I switched to the onboard sound, but even that has the same issues?
I'm running the latest bios for my motherboard and all the latest drivers for graphics, sound, motherboard etc, to no avail.
For some reason this problem went away for 6 months and I had 6 months of joyful gaming, then suddenly one day it started again.

When you switched to onboard sound did you unplug PCI sound card? Have you unplugged all peripherals and just had basics plugged in?
There's no place like ::1

Howdy
Yes I did remove the card and removed all the software and drivers for it

The only card I have installed are the graphics card, nothing else

I just tried two other, earlier versions of bios, but have the same result
I switched my harddrives to the gigabyte controller and disabled the intel one in windows, just as a test, but it's still the same
I got the same PCI latency issues even with no sound card enabled/installed.

Hi,
Your system specs would helpful to try and resolve your problem,
There are a few people with   issues similar to yours using nvidia cards
If you have one try the following
Look at your power connectors!
The card must have it`s own power connector and nothing else on that power rail,
Can put your hard drive and optical drive(s) on another power connector,
Worth a try ;D

Hmm, not thought about the power supply, I need a new one anyways, as it only came with 2 Sata connectors, hehe.
