GA-H57M-USB 1 IDE slot 2 devices
« on: December 27, 2010, 09:28:58 pm »
I only have 1 IDE slot on this Mobo with a DVD/CD and my HD with my OS on it.
How do I configure the cable and jumper pins?

CD master w/ HD slave? or what

I'm not opposed to re-installing my OS but I can't see my drive.

thanks

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

The power LED should be connected to the two outside pins of the three. If you check your manual it is shown in there. The negative(minus) is on the extreme outside then you miss one pin and the positive(plus) is on the next pin.

If in doubt about the FP_USB then just disconnect it for now from the motherboard.

Try it again and see if it powers up and the correct LEDs are on.

Power LED  ;D

You want the HDD as Master and on the end of the cable, and the CD as slave or CS and in the middle of the cable.

Some newer boards will not allow you to use HDD and CD at the same time, so you may end up needing to buy a SATA HDD or CD/DVD drive.

Not quite sure what happened there.... right answer but wrong question.
