Hi
I just wish to thank Dark Mantis and others who have posted helpful advice here. I'm setting up a system for HD video editing/Blu-ray burning using GA-X58A-UD3R, i7-960, 6GB Corsair Dominator RAM, HD 6870 graphics, Thermaltake Toughpower XT 875W power, SATA3 10,000RPM drives, etc.
The system was giving trouble running some programs, lock ups and Windows 7 freezing, etc. I was beginning to wonder if it was a faulty motherboard after trying many different BIOS settings, software re-installs and a few days of infinite attempts. Was going to post a question here asking for advice, but searching bought up good results, one of which was to flash the BIOS. Went from BIOS FB to FC and immediately the motherboard performed perfectly. Flashed again to FD and still perfect. Testing with Prime95 shows the system to be rock solid up to 4.3GHz on air cooling (TT Frio CPU cooler twin 120mm fans), but have set it back down to 4.0GHz as default for ultimate reliability and lower temps.
Thanks for the assistance and advice given on this forum!
