GA-X58A-UD3R: Temperature (?) Led of the CPU

Hi guys I'm new around here...

In this Christmas I got a new computer, I build it myself, the motherboard was a GA-X58A-UD3R and the processor an i7 930. It has been working fine except by 2 or 3 random crashes, the first one was after installing windows, running normally (with all in the BIOS to default) I was installing programs and then left to eat or watch a movie or something, but I let the computer IDLE, then I came back and tried to running again, touch some keys, move the mouse, nothing happened I had to make a hard reset to get it working, latter I tried to enter the boot menu and never got it working, but I saw a red light inside the computer...

Today, I was working in some outlook stuff, then left the computer and when I go back it didn't turned on again I watched inside the computer and again a red light, I had reseted it and again the red light after, so I opened the computer to see what was it, and there were 2 LEDs on, the 2 from the bottom a green one and a red one, the manual it's a little confusing about being either the voltage LEDs or the temperature LEDs (I believe they are temperature LEDs).

I waited some time and tried again, this time turned on with success and I could use it normal again.

I'm a little worried 'cause these aren't cheap components, and I don't want the CPU gets damaged. I was reading some about default temperature of the CPU and the forums in Google says it must be bellow 50º, but mine it's at 61º. In an IRC channel I heard a suggestion it could be a damaged PSU (all the stuff it's brand new), how could I check wheres the problem?

EDIT: My motherboard revision it's the second one, my computer has 4 fans and the fan from the i7 it's the default with no extra cooler stuff

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

It sounds to me like either an overheat problem or  a problem with the power saving settings. You could disable C1E, C3 etc in the BIOS  and see if the problem still arises.

I would check that your CPU cooler is firmly fixed down to the motherboard as they often come loose. Also check the temperture of the Northbridge chip and make sure it isn't overheating.

which it's a normal temperature for the north bridge?

Obviously depends on what is being done but if you can hold your finger on it then it is fine.
