Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

It is because you have filled all the slots and put an extra loading on the memory controller. That is why either three sticks will work but not together.

You will need to up the memory voltage a little. If you give me all the settings and voltages for your memory I will try and give you some idea of what you will need to change.

Well I would suggest trying 1.66v -1.68v for the DRAM and you might have to play around with the QPI/Vtt ( you can try up or down 0.1v max in small stages ) setting but try it as it is to start with. The rest of the settings look ok.

hi the settings you have from ocz

did you tell them you have 12Gb in six sticks?

basicaly the more sticks of ram you insert in the motherboard the more stress it puts on the memory controller in the cpu and so undervoltages your memory you may find you need to increase the qpi voltage setting to get all six sticks working

having looked at the qvl listing for this board you may need to clock them down to get them to work as they don't appear on the list and the sets that do appear in the list state only 3 modules can be used  one per channel

http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_ga-x58a-ud5_v2.0.pdf

I have had simular issues with a p55 based system we had to clock the memory down to 1333 to get it to run stable with 12Gb

thanks for all the help.
the memory is no longer listed withh gigabyte, and i am not happy with the volts up so high to get the system stable
just got 3 more sticks of ram 4gb each, so the 12gb works fine on my video edit system
i will use the other sticks in other systems i am building now.

thanks agian for the help
