DES Bios Warning with EIST Disabled - Please Help!

DES Bios Warning with EIST Disabled - Please Help!
« on: July 24, 2009, 07:32:39 pm »
Please Help! Has anybody managed to successfully disable EIST without getting a DES warning during boot?

EIST is causing juddering problems during playback of MPEG using FFDshow so I have to disable it, only to introduce a "DES's Dynamic Vcore is disabled because CPU EIST feature turned off in bios" warning during boot!

I have Googled the pants of this, including updating bios to F3a, resetting CMOS and reinstalling / uninstalling DES several times!

I don't have a keyboard connected to my HTPC so this is really driving me nuts!

Please help!

Tried F4d bios but still the same!  ???

Can't believe this board won't boot properly with EIST disabled!

I'm currently working around this by sending the computer to sleep instead of shutting down, but it's not ideal!

Hi

Probably DES is still running in so-called stealth mode and that's the reason.

Pls use following path to disable DES Advanced (DESA) software and hide this warning message:
1. Go to Bios utility setup -> Advanced Chipset Features -> CPU EIST Function: Enabled
DES warning massage at POST will disappear and then enter windows.
2. After entering windows run DESA.
3. Now you must properly turn off DESA as follows:
a.      Press the OFF button below green Advanced.
b.      Press X button to exit. See below pic.

4. Then go back to Bios setup and disable CPU EIST. Save and exit.
5. Then you will no longer see the DESA warning massage, as you have properly turned off the DESA application and it is no longer run under stealth mode.

Thanks for the reply Runn3R,

DESA has been uninstalled all along so I can't see how this is affecting things? I have carried out several uninstallations using various programs to completely ensure the program has uninstalled.

I will reinstall DESA and try out you recommendation.

Cheers

Success!

Thanks Runn3R, the reinstall and switch off worked a treat!

Looks like I uninstalled DESA with energy saver enabled & it remained enabled (strange program!)

You'd have thought an uninstallation would have switched this off - obviously not!

Cheers!

That's why it's called stealth mode - it's still working in hardware even you uninstall the application but don't disable DESA properly earlier
