« on: January 07, 2011, 05:37:35 pm »
Hi, New system

I7-950 Oc'ed to 4ghz
Core Voltage 1.360
Core speed 4000 MHZ
X20
200 Bus speed
3600 QPI link.
Memory 12GB x3 Channel Corsair XMS3 1600 (2:8) ratio.

Noctura beast, HAF922 case

will run Prime 95, And intel burn test, Both maxed out... will completed highest intel burn test, at max of 68c in 45 minutes and i can still stream southpark  with no lag :) Using the 3 stock fans on my haf, and the noctura.

However, When i go to cold boot, It will fail to boot, Then boot into the dual bios, Then i have to go into the bios, and just look at it, It will reset my OC, and work completely stable as listed above... Any ideas/tips/Help?? THANKS!!!

Hi and welcome to the Gigabte Forum.

This is  a known problem with this motherboard/BIOS and Gigabyte are working on it already.

Are your memory modules 2 or 4 GB?

What memory settings do you have inserted?

If you are trying to run with all slots filled using the XMP setting you are unlikely to have much luck. The extra loading the filled banks put on the memory controller make trying to use an automatic setting nearly impossible.

For a start try increasing the memory voltage to 1.55v or even more up to the maximum the memory is rated at and make sure the QPI/Vtt stays within 0.5v of it. Although you will probably have to increase that also to somewhere near 1.35v.

If you are running a memory multiplier of 8x then your uncore is about right but you could try increasing it by one or two.

I would try setting the timing to 9-9-9-27

Try those settings and if you are still having trouble try adjusting the QPI/Vtt a bit.

Thanks! will try that.

Today I turned it on, it booted up without that issue, however it still attempted twice, but it kept my bios settings in tact without opening them. I think it only happens when i turn the power off, at the PSU switch, or physical unplug the computer.

It seems like, it's not drawing enough juice on the first attempt, but by the second  attempt its already "primed" with juice from the first attempt and that's why it succeeds.

my memory is at the correct voltage, i had it at 7v as per the corsair tech said that 7v is safe for my ram, but it still did it, so i backed it back down a notch.

make sure the QPI/Vtt stays within 0.5v of it.

This is new info though, Thank you will research if this is correct on my bios.

I am also using a bloomfield P. if that matters.

You could always try inserting a HDD delay into the BIOS boot to give the hard drive time to initialise first.

added 3 sec delay, and changed HPET to 64 bit, now it says;

"Updating DMI pool data.. success!"

It never said the success before, so at least the delay helped :D
