GV-N460OC-1GI POWER CONNECTOR PIN LAYOUT

GV-N460OC-1GI POWER CONNECTOR PIN LAYOUT
« on: January 10, 2011, 04:08:53 pm »
I'm upgrading with the above graphics card and the power cables do not match the PSU molex plugs. Not wishing to damage anything, can anyone help or point me in the right direction.

The 2 x 6 pin power cables supplied with the new card have a Molex 4 pin connector with pin 1 -yellow, pin 2- Black & pin 3-red. The molex connectors on my 600w PSU are pin 1- yellow, pin 2-black, pin 3-black & pin 4-red. Do I need to change the pin layout on either of the plugs so that the colours match or should they be plugged in "as is".

I don't have any access to technical specs so I have asked runn3R to let us know. I will post when I hear from him.

What power supply is this? Is it modern?

Are you talking about the 2x 4 pin molex to 1x 6 pin adapters? I use one of these on my servers fine, but I believe the colours match :/

Normal color for the 4 pins Molex connector is yellow for the + 12 volts , black for the Ground  and  ( red for the + 5 Volts )

For the extender with Molex or direct power supply PCIe power connector that is this :

P2 --> pins 1 , 2 , 3 :  + 12 volts

P2 --> pins 4 , 5 , 6 : Ground

Why the runn3R schematic or your adapter use also red color for the Ground that is mysterious !!!

-->  can be had more black wires but a lot of red  ...

Yes that was the trouble Pierre, the colour coding went against the normal convention. I have checked the ones I have and they are all Yellow/Black/Black.  ???
