GA-890GPA UD3H cold boot issues
« on: January 15, 2011, 04:15:39 am »
Hello,

I have a new system that has been nothing but issues.  I have an 890gpa-ud3h with 2 adata s599 SSD's in raid 0.  I have 2 2GB OCZ 1333 mhz sticks in both blue slots.  I had to change the timings of the memory and increase the voltage to 1.65 in order to get the system stable.  I also had to update the firmware of the SSD's to get the sleep mode issue fixed.  Now, I can run the system at 100% load for 14 plus hours with absolutely no issues.

However, if I shutdown the PC and let it sit for a while it will act VERY VERY strange on startup.  I would get all sorts of errors.  Programs would reset themselves.  Windows Essentials would stop working, etc.  If I pull the power plug for a while and then start it up, it runs forever again with no issues.   The reason why I think this is a motherboard or configuration issue, is that I have a 3 1/2" card reader that has power lights on it.  When the system runs well, these lights will light up as soon as I start the PC.  If they do not light up, it acts odd and will error on something or another.

Has anyone ever seen this sort of thing?  I have been trying everything I see regarding CE1, and anything else.

Thanks,

Christoph

do you shut down the computer and then power off the PS by the switch behind it?

when you switch that button on again, wait for a few seconds (15 seconds) before you turn on the computer

and another thing, you didn't mention the PS you have in your computer...

I have seen a lot of issues caused by these card readers before so it might be worth just removing the connections to it and see if the problem persists.
