GA-P67A-UD5 no boot: Both CPU VTT Phase Indicator LEDs simultaneously lit

Hello
After assembling with core i7 2600k ; Ventirad and 4 x 2GO RAM. (No problem during the assembling process) I tried booting the system. I observed a constant on/off cycle of fans transition/clicking but no beeping or booting.
The MB CPU VTT leds are both lit : the green GD1 AND the yellow GD2 indicating according to user’s manual : Excessive overvoltage or overloading.
I have tried switching PSU (1000W and 750W) with no success.
No other diagnostic leds are lit
The 4 phase LEDs are lit.
Is the MB defective?
What should I try?  Troubleshooting tips?? (besides the obvious connections checking)

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

First thing to try is removing two sticks of memory and see if that makes any difference. Leave just the modules in DDDR3_1 and DDR3_3

Ok this worked and allowed me to boot after a few on and off cycles?
Question :  does this mean I wont be able to use all 4 RAM slots in the future?
New problem appears : the system still auto-shuts down from time to time and autoreboots what is the best way to solve this?
I managed to install OS etc. Shutdowns appear ramdomly.

No, hopefully we will get it all stable and running with all four sticks . But first we make sure that everything is working properly.

I would suggest that you download and run Memtest86+ to check your RAM first.

Memtest86+        http://www.memtest.org/

Insert one stick of memory in slot 1 and run Memtest on it for at least 10 loops and if there are no errors then swap it over with the next one and continue untill you have checked all  modules.

If you have any errors the module is faulty.

If you have any faulty modules you will have to return the whole kit as they are matched.

Post back when you have done that with the results.

Ok I managed to DL to memtest program both on USB or on ISO disc copy but system is so unstable it shuts down during BIOS setup.
However I asked myself if I had not made a mistake in the RAM I was using and that may be the cause of all my trouble.
It is a batch of CORSAIR 12 GB (6 x 2GB) 9-9-9-24 1,6V TRIPLE channel 1600 MHz. I thought I was buying 2 x 6GB (if that even exists). Could this be the reason of all this instability. If so, do I have a way of setting it up that could work or do I have to run back to the RAM store and buy dual channel RAM instead?

The memory quite possibly might not work as it is rated at 1.65v and the motherboard is 1.5v. Also with all slots filled you would have to increase the voltage even more to compensate. By the way there is no such thing as a 6 GB stick  I think you would be safest changing the memory for some Corsair RAM that  is happy at 1.5v. Tell them what motherboard chipset it is for and they should be able to help.

Sorry I'm back...
I switched RAM for 2 x 2GB Kingston standard RAM and problem still the same.
Here is the complete sequence of on board lights if this can help me
power on :
Standby S4-S5 red goes green
5 phase LED (rainbow color) + CPU green and yellow Leds
Then 3 blue LEDs are lit; one at a time (alternatively):
first RAM led
second PCI 8/16 led very briefly
thrid SATA led  long
then the 5 phase leds and the 2 CPU leds dissapear

Well as far as I know thta is hte correct sequence of lights when booting as POST goes through it's checking list. You say it boots at the end and what happens then ?

The memory you replaced, is it a matched kit and 1.5v ? By matched kit I don't just mean two modules of the same type.

Then at a random time from 2 seconds to five minutes the system  suddenly turns itself off with a clicking sound and then reboots again and so on. Once it was stable for two hours. The halt can appear while I'm changing BIOS values or afterwards when OS is running (just mentioning halt can appear BEFORE OS is loaded).
I will check the kit asap for batch numbers

Well everything looks ok on the surface. Are the OCZ drives running the latest firmware as there were some problems with them and Gigabyte motherboards  a while ago ?

The symptoms sound like a faulty PSU. The power supply is a good quality one and certainly large enough but it is always possible that it could have  a fault. If you can borrow another one just to try for eliminmation purposes it would be good.

Ok faulty PSU!!!
I swapted it with the corsair 650W of my former case no shutdown at all.
DO you think 650W is enough to use it while the ANTEC goes back to the shop?

Yes I would say that you should be alright but it must be only just coping I would imagine. If you have any problem it will be if you are driving your GPU hard.

No beeping sistem boots to bios but bios screen shows up all flickery and next second it dissapears, shows up again for second an dissapears   Bad PSU? or maybe something else? thanx for reply
