GA-X58-USB3 Fault - Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding
« on: January 25, 2011, 12:02:25 pm »
Hey Guys

I have a weird issue with a rig I've built for a customer.
Every couple of minutes I get the following error in Windows 7: Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

Here is the specs of the system1:
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit (fully patched)
CPU: Core i7 950 (non oc)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X58-USB3 Revision 1.0
RaM : Corsair CMV4GX3M2A1333C9 4GB (2x 2Gb) (1333MHz) DDR3
PSU: NEO-ECO-520C
Graphics Adaptor: GV-N210OC-512I (Geforce 210 - 512mb card)
Drivers: Running latest drivers for chipset, vga card and bios F3C

I've tried the following:
Changed VGA card
Changed Ram
Flashed Bios to F2
Removed Antivirus

Still get the same issue.

Do you think I have a compatability issue with the hardware, or do I have a faulty mobo or psu or something?

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

Well it is one of those issues that could be many things causing the problem.

Try disabling all the power saving modes in Windows and the BIOS.

Try removing the graphics drivers completely and then do a fresh install of them.

Check the card is fitted well and the connections are secure.

Hey Dark Mantis thanks for your reply.

I'll be picking the system up on friday to do further diagnostics and I'll have a play with the power settings. I don't think it's the connectors on the graphics adaptor as I've tried two cards pretty firmly in the slots. But i can try the 2nd pci-e slot.

If you do that remember to make the change to Primary boot display in the BIOS.

You would be surprised at how many problems are caused by the power supply units. Often as in this case the PSU seems to have little bearing on the problem and that can make it all the more hard to figure out. Anyway happy that you have sorted it now.  ;)
