GM-M6880 help please.
« on: January 31, 2011, 10:39:03 am »
Hi was hoping someone could help me with a problem I have with this mouse. I also notice others in the past have aloso experienced it and yet nothing seems to have been done? I have also tried using the drivers which didn't help anything and in fact made the mouse worse. So the problems?

1. Hold down both mouse buttons for a few seconds and the mouse alternates between the 2 precision selections. (800/1600)
2. When I hold down 2 mouse buttons it won't allow a third to be depressed as it fails to register.
3. When I actually used the official drivers the 2 side buttons failed to work in game. It also didn't fix the above so it was just as easy to remove the drivers.

I know this mouse was cheap but I still expected better from a company such as Gigabyte. I am very disappointed at this and will think twice before I buy from you again. If only the mouse was in any way usable.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

I am sorry to hear that the mouse doesn't seem to be working as it should. Personally I have never used one of Gigabyte's mice but always thought that they were good quality.

What other hardware are you using it with and what OS?

Thanks for the quick response. Sorry to sound a bit off but you say good quality and yet in the first 2 pages of this I can find 2 others that have had similar issues with regards to the precision switching:

http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,2170.0.html
http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,2562.0.html

I notice that one was informed to submit request for technical support with the second being flat out ignored. I guess this is maybe where I should head aswell but for the sake of the £10 I think I will just put it down to bad experience and learn to not buy from Gigabyte again. I am running windows 7 ultimate 64 bit for what it is worth and a Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0 works fine along with a couple of old Razer mice I have lying around.

Apologies if I appear disgruntled and I know you are only trying to help but seeing that this has been an issue in the past and yet the issue has not been resolved is very disappointing from such a large distributor.

Hey again. I just wanted to apologise for being a little short in my previous message. I have actually contacted technical if only to get the problem looked at. Unfortunately I don't have the time to hang around for a reply as I need a mouse, so it will be tucked away until it slowly finds its way to the bin. Thanks again for your reply.

You are welcome, it is just a shame to not try and resolve this issue as it will affect other people as well I guess. It may just be faulty hardware in this case but if it is more than that it will affect all purchasers.

I don't know if you have tried the latest drivers but they are available here:

Another thing that might be of use to you is the programmable button. I don't know if you could make use of that.

Ah don't get me wrong I have put in a technical support query to try and get it sorted for others that may have the same issues. I have tried the latest drivers thanks and they were of no help unfortunately. Even though I set the programmable buttons to forward and back (internet keys) after installing drivers, the game did not even notice tha buttons when depressed. As default before installing drivers they were button 4 and 5 that also had the forward and back internet functionality.

I would look further into the issue but that is only one of several problems. I cannot understand how pressing buttons 1 and 2 will then stop activation of buttons 4 and 5 on a gaming mouse however. This happens both in game and on the desktop and all buttons work fine individually, sadly this renders it useless for my purposes. Add into that the fact that when you hold down buttons 1 and 2 for anything more than a second and it changes from one dpi setting to another (which is another thing I tend to use alot) and really the mouse is nothing more than bin fodder.

I will see what comes of my report and post back if anything useful comes out of it. New Razer on order, should have stuck with what I trusted in the first place and not been so tight. I have always liked Gigabyte products and used to swear by the motherboards but maybe I was wrong to believe they can make peripherals.

Well we all make mistakes sometimes. :-\ I would have thought that it was a software issue though as I can't see how a hardware one would have that effect.

Anyway please let us know how you get on  with GGTS please as we would like to know for the future.

OK I know this was a long time ago but I was checking my bookmarks and stumbled back upon this. Fair do's to Gigabyte, they sent out a new mouse and it is one fo the best I have used. The original was binned as it must have been a hardware issue. Very strange and it was frustrating at the time but I am glad I went through it and took the replacement as I am delighted with it.

With this being an old thread I have obviously been using it for a while now and all is good. Gigabyte and I are friends again.  ;)

Well thanks for the update even if it has been a while. At least people can use your experience if they have a similar problem. ;)
