880GA-UD3H Rev 2.0 onboard VGA Problem
« on: January 31, 2011, 07:44:46 pm »
 hello,

i was just wondering if anyone else is have same problem ? if i use the onboard gfx conected to the VGA conector on back of motherboard, the motherboard speaker makes a funny buzzing noise when ever pc boots insted of the normal beep ? also if i enter bios and press keyboard buttons the pc speaker makes funy buzzing noise, if i conect using the DVI connection its fine .. i know i have an HD6850 installed as thats what i use although i also do alot of rig setups and configs so i was just wondering why it would do this buzzing noise ... is motherboard faulty? i've done some burn in testing to test for stability using intel burn in test if i run default bun in test i say 98% chance of pass i dont overclock want stability so all hardware is running at standard out of the box default settings if i run max setting for burn in test it fails after about 8mins . any help would be grately recived thanks

just a quick update ,

pulled out the 2x 2gig sticks of patriot ram ran intel burn in test with test set to its max setting and passed ..

i've reconfig the ram in this order 4gig stick + 2gig stick for each channel so that each channel has 6gig to make 12gig dual channel

before i had ram sticks config 2gig stick + 4gig stick for each channel (system will fail intel burn in test with 12gig installed in that config) 588 seconds to complete one run @ 50.0 GFlops , fails from 2nd to 3rd run.

system pass intel burn in test with 2 x 4 gig / 4 gig per channel / 288 seconds to complete 1 run (set to do 5 runs) peak GFlops 55.1850

ahhh just as i type this my system has failed :/ (im on my second pc athlon II 445)
... hmm ok im gonna pull ram again and run test with just the patriot 2gig sticks in to see if its dodgey ram .. btw the timmings are the same as the kingston 4gig sticks so that should not be an issue ... i post back with my findings

Hi

Have you checked the mains wiring to make sure that you have a good earth (ground) connection on both the system box and the monitor?

yeah wireing is all good mate ,

i m starting to think its to do with the cheap VGA cable? ..... or bug in bios as the noise it makes from the the psot speaker sounds the same as the warning noise the motherboard makes if you have fan monitoring enabled and a fan fails .

changed the 2 x 2gig sticks of patriot ram for another pack of kingstone KVR (value ram) 2 x 4 gig sticks and running burn in test with burn in tset set to its maximum burn in setting on the pc as i type.
its past its first run using all 16gig 4x4gig sticks in 937.826 Seconds @ 55.6751 GFlops another 4 runs :)
if it passes i'll know system wiill be 100% stable or as 100% stable that winows will let me lol

well im just as happy as happy can be  ;D

100% stable :D im starting to like this little 6 core AMD and gigabyte board alot more than me i7 860 on an asus p55 board .. i read all the hype about intel and bought into the i7 860 with 8gig of ballistix 1600mhz ram about 14 months ago and i have to say this AMD 1055T is much better than i thought it would be :D ... lesson learned dont always think that when people say intel cpus are much much faster results into OMG is this ultra lol i fail to see much difference in gamming between the 1055T and i7 860 the difference is not noticeable even if the i7 hits higher frame rates as the 1055T also hits high frame rates justr not as high as the i7.
very happy indeed .. so happy i dont even care about the onboard vga problem anymore lol :D and i deffo start trying out some more gigabyte boards in the future ... i have stuck with asus boards for about 6 -7 years and been very happy with them too, although theres something fresh about the gigabyte boards! i dont know wot it is but i like it lol :D infact im gonna upgrade the little athlon x 3 445 from its am2+ board to a nice spanky gigabyte am3 micro atx board next :D
