I didn't know that three year warranty is from date of manufacture and NOT date of purchase:

GBT-UK 3 YEAR RMA WARRANTY REPAIR SERVICE
START DATE: 26 November 2003 (effective to products released in 2003)
OBJECTIVE: To enhance the quality of after sales service
SUBJECT: Gigabyte defective goods (Mainboards, VGA Card)
Repair Schedule:
GBT-UK will endeavour to complete repairs within 14 working days of receipt into GBT-UK Warehouse. The only exceptions to this are manpower and component constraints and quantities exceeding 100 pcs per week.
Freight cost:
Customer shall pay incoming RMA delivery charges.
Outbound RMA delivery charges shall be paid by GBT-UK.
3 year RMA policy:
Three free labour cost + free component replacement Warranty validation is from the date of manufacture indicated by the serial number. It all depends on serial number not invoice date.
For example the number start from: SN0 0301317915
The first two numbers indicate the manufacturing year, i.e. 03 means year 2003. The second two digits indicate the manufacturing week in that year, i.e. 01 means week 01 of year 2003.

I think that is totally wrong. WD update the warranty from invoice date once you send them the invoice and Gigabyte should do the same.

Yes I do agree that it would be a fairer way of tackling the problem but the trouble is it is overthe legislated time period for warranty so anything you are given is a bonus and you have no way of putting pressure on  the company to change it.

I find it unfair, too. What if you buy a product that's been on the shelf for a year? Then you have something that's brand new but has only 2 years of warranty left.

Is it the same for all Gigabyte products or only graphics cards? I have trouble locating warranty info on the Polish site.

Or you can go EVGA . That's one thing you can't hold against them - they probably have the best warranty out there.

That is the same policy for all Gigabyte products as far as I know.

Sorry, didn't mean it like that. But it's obvious that how can warranty start from manufacture date. This just isn't acceptable. Do they write the manufacture date on the card?

Yes it is part of the number printed on the ID sticker starts off 1106******* that would define the manufacturing date as the sixth week of 2011

So there is no way to tell prior to purchasing. This is criminal and should be dealt with trading standards. I'll get in touch with them.
