takes two power ups to post and boot

My system has been working fine for awhile but recently it is experiencing an annoying start-up problem.
Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5, Phenom X6 1055T, 8 Gigs RAM GSkill, XFX HD5770, 1000W Sparkle power supply

Initial power on results in power to the fans, lights, even what sounds like the hard drives, but no POST and no power to monitor, keyboard, or mouse.
I power off the system (via holding button for 4 seconds). I power on the system again and then it will POST and boot up normal. This is now a consistent routine.

Any suggestions.

I'm using this board and haven't encountered this particular issue. Sorry about this but a couple of questions for you.....

What revision is your motherboard?
What BIOS version are you running?
Are you overclocking anything?
What Operating System are you running?
What other hardware are you running?

OK that's more than a couple of questions b ut in for a penny in for a pound!

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

I would say it is probably down to your BIOS settings.

Make sure that you have the USB legacy devices (or similar) enabled.

Disable the floppy drive.

Make sure that you have the hard drive as  the first boot device.

Kill the full screen logo.

Enable quick boot.

My board is an early version that I send to Gigabyte in order for it to use the Phenom X6. So, its Bios has been updated to accommodate that CPU. I am not at that computer right now so I don't have the exact version number. I am pretty sure that I already have those BIOS settings recommended in place but I will double check.
I am not overclocking. Using Win7 Pro 64 bit, the onboard sound (which I recently updated the drivers for...hmmm coincidence?).
One other problem, I do have another XFX 5770 that I have run in CrossFire, but every once in awhile the second card fan goes haywire in conjunction with corrupted sound quality. I then have to remove the vid card and lose CrossFire benefit.

Hi,

Could easily be a driver issue and, as I don't use the onboard sound, I wouldn't encounter that problem. You could try rolling back the audio driver and see if it helps.
Another option could be the Graphics Drivers, are you running the latest ones from AMD? If not it would be worth updating those too.

Your PSU, is it made by Sparkle USA or Sparkle Far East ? It is just there are two different companies and one makes good products the other not so good.
