GA x58a-udr3 - endless fail to reboot+ led's
« on: February 17, 2011, 11:51:53 am »
Hello there people....

I have a big problem...

My new computer fails to boot(often, but not always). Sometimes it boots and goes into Windows 7, without a hitch...
Often however it fails..fails and fails...espescially from cold boot.

The symptoms when trying to boot looks a lot like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRT1b8ZDejg

Sometimes - often the first try after a long period of being turned on...the computer behaves the same way, but only one green led to the left, under the dram-brackets, and one over to the right are lit.

I have read this forum extensively and tried most solutions suggested, like
Testing with other psu, gpu
Removing ram - checing one at a time
updating bios
updating drivers
checing socket of cpu
clearing cmos
manually putting in number for voltage, timings eg in bios

So my last hope, before RMA'ing the mobo is that you can make something of the led's at boot.....please?

I am enclosing an AIDA64 report of my computers hardware config

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

Well I have just looked through the included file and there are no obvious problems there.

What PSU are you using?

Is the SSD the only hard drive you have connected?

Are you using the latest firmware on the drive?

Try adding a 5 second HDD delay in the BIOS.

Thank you for your input

The PSU is an Antec True Power Trio TP3-650. But i have also tried another psu with the exact same symptoms.

The SSD is the only drive attached. I will check for new firmware(but i have also tried another drive with clean install of windows 7).

I will let you know about the 5 sec delay in BIOS.

I think your problem might well be down to your PSU lacking in power especially as it it is of the split 12v rail type. With your SLI setup for your GPUs they require quite a powerfull PSU particularly on startup.

Ok, I see. Well it shouldn't be that then.

As long as the LEDs are green then it is nothing to worry about there. I can only suggest an extended clear of the CMOS instructions as follows:

Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.

Once done remove the motherboard battery for at least an hour before replacing it.

Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.

You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Opimised BIOS Defaults.

Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self and then press F10 to save and exit.
