Problem with ga-x58a-ud3r cannot detect network card/ethernet

Hi there all i recently purchased a used computer from someone and the motherboard is a ga-x58a-ud3r now i am a novice when it comes to computer stuff anyhow i installed windows and noticed prior to installing drivers my ethernet light was active tho there was a red x on the network logo on the bottom right of the screen next to the other logos now i decided to install the drivers on the mobo disc and upon installing just the realtek ethernet driver the light suddenly turned off after installation and there is no network adapter showing in network devices no internet connection active i read up abit about this on my other computer which i am currently on and have seen its quiet a common problem with this motherboard now i decided to go into bios and i turned green lan on and maybe the other lan option and did the lan test which worked now im not sure what the problem here is but yea basically i know very minimal about computers and am at a loss for what to do here so if anyone here can help me out that would be great.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

The first thing I would say is don't go messing with the BIOS settings or you could get in real trouble. Make sure that you understand what each option does before changing them.

I think the best thing for you to do would be to clear the CMOS first as we don't really know how the BIOS has been set up as it is a second hand machine. Follow these instructions please:

Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.

Once done remove the motherboard battery for at least one hour before replacing it.
 
Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.
 
You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Opimised BIOS Defaults.

Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self like disabling the floppy drive, disabling the full screen logo and making the HDD the primary boot device and then press F10 to save and exit.
