I have GA-7ZXE Rev1.1
Part number (01)04719331729011(21)SN0144528642
Currently the Bios installed is ‘FB’ i.e. v1.24.
(I am currently running AMD 2100)
Gigabyte’s support advice has the following pieces of information:
Under CPU compatibility it says:
‘AMD    AthlonXP 2200+(Thoroughbred,13u)   266   N/A’
(see
http://www.giga-byte.co.uk/Support/Motherboard/CPUSupport_Model.aspx?ProductID=2307 )
But separately, under advice about upgrades to the Bios the support advice says:
‘F8   2002/04/12
1.PCB 2.0 and previous PCB version (1.x) support up to Athlon XP 2200+ (0.18) CPU
2.PCB 2.1 and above support Athlon XP 2200+ (0.13) CPU
( see
http://www.giga-byte.co.uk/Support/Motherboard/BIOS_Model.aspx?ProductID=2307 )
Does this mean that if I roll back the Bios to F8 from FB, that an AMD 2200 (Thoroughbred) 1800 should be compatible with GA-7ZXE Rev1.1 (I have one available)? Or does it mean that it is not compatible (since it seems to be excluded in the list of compatible CPUs)?
Would it be worth the risk?effort of upgrading from AMD2100 to AMD 2200, or would the difference be insignificant?
Grateful for any advice anyone can offer on this.
Regards,
Milo
