Just got my first Gigabyte motherboard !
« on: March 12, 2011, 03:13:01 pm »
First post...I previously had an MSI motherboard , which I installed in January.
A few weeks ago, the hard drive controller on the motherboard went out.
I'm RMA-ing it out today.

I bought this motherboard - H67A-UD3H-B3

running an Intel i5 2500K , 8 gigs of ram and a GTX 470 vid card.

I'm hoping to have better luck with Gigabyte, altho after reading these forums, I feel a bit nervous !

Hi James and welcome to the Gigabyte forum.

There is no need to feel nervous as you have made a good choice. I have just been doing a review on the P67 board which is very similar and I was most impressed with it.

Don't forget when you come on to a forum it is always full of people with problems. That is just the nature of the beast. People don't come on forums to say how well their board is running or how pleased they are that they bought it.

The only thing I don't understand is why you bought the 2500K CPU but a board that wont let you make the most of it's overclocking ability?

Thanks for the reassurance !

I dont plan on overclocking my cpu until I need to. So far, this system runs all games very well, and I dont think overclocking it at this point will show much noticeable improvement in gaming.

Once Skyrim and Battlefield 3 come out, we'll see.At the time the store that ran the diagnosis on my computer, had JUST received only 2 motherboards that had the new "B3 stepping" . I was so pissed off at MSI, I bought the Gigabyte board right then and had it installed.

I just got my computer back today in fact, and I'll play around with the BIOS settings and see how stable this board is.
I might decide to flash the BIOS, not sure yet.

:)

I have a feeling that you are missing my point. Your CPU supports overclocking, your motherboard doesn't. The H series of motherboards doesn't allow overclocking whereas the P series does.

Fair enough. I just thought it was funny that you had payed extra for an overclockable CPU and thern bought a motherboard that doesn't support it.

yeah, maybe later on I'll get a P67.

So far so good, this motherboard seems very stable.
I've been hardcore gaming all day. Surfing, photoshop, the works...no issues.

MSI = bad
Gigabyte = gooood :)

Congrats. Just obtained my second Gigabyte motherboard just two months after my first one myself.
First one is X58A-UD3R
Second one is H55M-S2

To be honest, I am satisfied compared to when I use Intel motherboard. Lots more settings to customise and play around. You just made a good choice btw

I am on my 3rd Gigabyte board.

 First one was a GA-EP45-DS3L 775 socket.(E-8400)  went to my brother :D

 Second was a GA-MA790FXT-UD5P AM3.(965 BE)   going to my son ;D

And now the GA-P67A-UD7-B3.( i-7 2600k )   This baby's mine. ;)

You should be very happy with your choice of Gigabyte.  I have not had any issues what so ever with any these boards.

Pfft these Gigabyte board are invisible.
I play hammer time with it, Frisbee, I use it to cut my vegetables on it, and always works when put back in the computer

WARNING:
I might be slightly exaggerating. :D
