Soar, I would give it a chance to "run in" first and make sure there are no little problems that need sorting out before you start clocking it. Only complicates matters if you OC it and then hit a snag, you don't know whether it is the OC that has caused it or just a fault.

I'm not surprised at the 7.9 in WEI. But I do think Microsoft will be re-evaluating it shortly as the faster drives start going mainstream.

DM, you know, that sure makes good sense about waiting on the OC'ing!  Thanks for the good advice and I will wait.  I still have more hardware to add.  Presently, I am very impressed with everything.  I never realized how nice this HAF 932 was until I opened the box and put everything inside.  There are so many variations of what one can do with this case.  Now I am extremely happy I purchased it and am using it.  It is by far the best computer case I have ever owned/used.

The GA-P67A-UD3-B3/Intel 2500K is working flawlessly so far.  Kind of strange, but now I realize that there are probably not as many problems with these boards as most people suspect.  I think I read too many reports detailing the problems, but perhaps for every person that had a problem, there were 50-100 people that had no problem whatsoever!

That is perhaps the one draw back [downside] of reading too much at a forum like this.

I have a proposal:

To help people have a more balanced view, how about Forum Gigabyte UK make a part of this forum where people can post their successes!  Yes, stories about installing the MOBO and there were no problems at all!

I think this idea may be helpful for people like myself that come here and do not realize that most of the Gigabyte MOBO's post with no problem at all and work flawlessly!

Just a suggestion.  I think it would level the playing area by giving people a better perspective of the overall quality of Gigabyte motherboards.

Please forward this to Runn3r.  I think an idea like this could transform many people's perspective on Gigabyte's motherboards in a very positive way.

I am all in favour of it but I feel that it wouldn't work because there isn't enough incentive for people to come to the forum and post if everything has gone well with their build. Whereas the member with a problem can't wait to post it to get help or even just vent their frustration at someone.

Ok, but I think it is still an idea you should consider.  After reading all the posts about problems, I expected problems while doing this build, yet there were no problems whatsoever.

I am very thankful about that.

DM, if you look at the pics in the post above, you can see my temps are doing quite well, too.

From left to right:

1. 2500k Processor - 24.0 C
2. Northbridge [hottest of them all] 32.5 C
3. Southbridge chip - 24.0 C
4. RAM - 22 C

Not bad at all!  I think we should rename the HAF 932 to "The Refrigerator".

I did install/modify some of the fans:

XIGMATEK Cooling System Crystal Series CLF-F1454 140mm White LED Case Fans - two of these, one replaced the CM fan in the back, the other I installed were the 5.25" drives normally go [this creates an airflow that goes directly from front to back as it passes through the CPU Cooler.

I installed a Scythe 120mm fan in the bottom [the XFX 850 Watt PSU would not permit a 140mm fan.

Yes the tempertures are a nice surprise especially after the original i7s and X58 boards. The HAF is a great case too and with those fans you should be able to keep cool even in your climate.

I am just working on the design of a new case now with watercooling in mind and I will send you details when I have finished them. Lot to sort out first.

Some people have it, and some people don't!

Example: my older brother has a tremendous gift.  He can visualize and build a spiral staircase like few others can.  I remember on job where 5 different carpenters attempted to build the spiral staircase, and each had to eventually tear it down and gave up!  What others attempted to do in 1-2 weeks, my brother was able to do in a couple of days.  I could have tried that spiral staircase for several months, and still not have gotten right! 

We each have different talents and gifts and engineering is not one of the gifts I have! 

But it is one of your gifts you lucky duck!  Quack, quack!

So I finally installed the Hyper Cooler 212+, I'm not sure what I did wrong, But my temps seems to just a couple of degrees cooler. I didn't do any lapping to the surface.

I'll have to play around and take a look what else I can do.

Something sounds off.  You should be seeing 10 C degrees drop in temps or more compared to the stock cooler.  I would recommend check to be sure the heat sink is seated correctly.  Be sure you applied the correct amount of thermal paste [remember, the Hyper 212+ is a Heat Pipe Direct Touch CPU Cooler and therefore the amount and the method of applying the thermal paste differs vastly compared to other coolers].

Last, check your fan speed and I would definitely recommend lapping the surface of the heat sink but realize, even without lapping the Hyper 212+, your temps should be significantly lower than the stock heat sink.

Please let us know what you discovered so we can all grow in our understanding of how to properly set up the Hyper 212+.
