Again I hope this thread isn't getting derailed. Sorry if it is. ;-)

No problem faizoff it is just a natural evolution of the discussion. If you want to go in depth with it though it might be a good idea to start a new thread. ;)

DM,

I think Faizoff's GA-P67A-UD3-B3 would fit perfectly in that NZXT case!  What do you think?

Also, sorry for not posting more info on my new Intel 2500k/GA-P67A-UD3-B3 set up!  I have had to leave this new rig on the shelf due to tax filing deadline that is soon approaching here in the USA.  Deadline is 04/18/11, so I am obligated to finish all the paperwork before then.

I am still looking for a good deal on the program/storage HDD and so far, not very many good deals.  I am still leaning toward the WD Caviar Black.  After installing a new HDD for the programs, I would love to try some over clocking.  Hope someone here can help me!

Well now you have proved the build you can carry on and start overclocking safely. When you have paid your taxes I am sure we can help you play.

Yes faizoff's GA-P67A-UD3-B3 will fit in there fine as long as none of those Imperial Troopers are hiding in there.

LOL soar, yea it does look star trekkish. I've been going back and forth on a lot of things to get for my PC and the video card and case have been the 2 items that constantly change for me.

I've decided for the video card i'll stick with the 4670 as I posted earlier. It runs Crysis on high but not very high. I think High is good enough. Still looks great.

I'm glad you brought up the fan controller as I was looking into getting the one you got. Another product of interest I noticed at the store was a media dashboard with plenty of USB ports.

I tend to use a few USB ports and I'd like to have more in the front as I think it's waste to have usb ports at the back. So many devices I plug in and out (phones, external storage, etc..) The media dashboard gave me an idea to not look for a case that has more than 2 usb ports.

Again I hope this thread isn't getting derailed. Sorry if it is. ;-)

Thanks again for the feedback guys.

Faizoff, the nice thing about waiting patiently for a good deal on a GPU is that time is totally on your side!  All GPU's keep dropping in price as time goes by...so you can't lose by waiting.  I no longer game so, I no longer look for the high end cards for personal use, but Crysis was  one of my favorite games when I did play the games.

Faizoff, I have never even heard of a media dashboard!  Can you send a link showing it please?  I am not sure what you are referring to.

Both the Sniper and the HAF 932 have 4 USB 2's, 1 firewire, and 1 SATA port.  That is more than enough for me.  You must have tons of USB peripherals!

Have you ever considered a USB hub?  They are dirt cheap and you can set them up on your desk if you like.

Let us know what you decided upon for your new case and please do post some nice pics.  I know it will look real nice!

Hey Soar, this is what I'm talking about
http://www.amazon.com/Ultra-ULT40279-Internal-Card-Reader/dp/B001DNH916

It's a like a front board with usb ports, media card reader, etc..

Yea ideally I'm looking for 4 front side usb ports.  I don't have a million items but at times I plug in my phone, my wife's phone and need a flash drive plus my externals, etc.. so it becomes tedious to have to reach at the other ports.

I did have a USB hub many years ago but was really not impressed by it. Though I'm sure technology has improved in usb ports immensely since.

It's great to hear many opinion like this and I love having these discussions with very astute and well informed people. One of many reasons I love this place.

Oh and btw my fan will easily fit any case that is over 8" wide (insert that's what she said joke)

Right now the stock case I use measures 8" wide and has a very comfortable clearing for the fan with the case closed.

faizoff I would advise caution regarding these dashboards. I am sure some work very well indeed but I have seen a number of problems caused by them on the forum. If you are dead set then I would suggest that you build your system first and check everything is working properly before adding the dashboard.

Faizoff,

Thanks for that link.  I have never seen something like that before...it seems as if you can put nearly anything and everything into it!

I do not use many of those various tiny storage cards so I would not be able to make use of all the benefits of a dashboard, but thanks for helping us understand what it  is a how it works!

Soar I use microSD cards from cameras and since my camera's usb port is defective, I'm forced to transfer by the card. That makes the dashboard or any card reader an attractive option.

But as mentioned I'm still just looking into them to see if they are really worth it.

Hi faizoff,

I am not saying that they don't work just that i have seen several people that have had a lot of problems with them although I cannot remember if it was that specific make.

Hi Soar

Well these are very easy to overclock compared to the previous incarnations of Intel processors. You can get a good OC by just upping the multiplier. I would suggest that byou read  runn3R's post here though:

Soar, I would give it a chance to "run in" first and make sure there are no little problems that need sorting out before you start clocking it. Only complicates matters if you OC it and then hit a snag, you don't know whether it is the OC that has caused it or just a fault.

I'm not surprised at the 7.9 in WEI. But I do think Microsoft will be re-evaluating it shortly as the faster drives start going mainstream.
(...)

The GA-P67A-UD3-B3/Intel 2500K is working flawlessly so far.  Kind of strange, but now I realize that there are probably not as many problems with these boards as most people suspect.  I think I read too many reports detailing the problems, but perhaps for every person that had a problem, there were 50-100 people that had no problem whatsoever!

That is perhaps the one draw back [downside] of reading too much at a forum like this.

I have a proposal:

To help people have a more balanced view, how about Forum Gigabyte UK make a part of this forum where people can post their successes!  Yes, stories about installing the MOBO and there were no problems at all!

I think this idea may be helpful for people like myself that come here and do not realize that most of the Gigabyte MOBO's post with no problem at all and work flawlessly!

Just a suggestion.  I think it would level the playing area by giving people a better perspective of the overall quality of Gigabyte motherboards.

Please forward this to Runn3r.  I think an idea like this could transform many people's perspective on Gigabyte's motherboards in a very positive way.

Up, up, and away into more positive thinking and living!

Soar

Thanks Soar for your input. Finally done as you can see!
ZX-S & C64 are still my favourites ;-)

Yes I agree. It is alright for us who frequent the forum over long periods as we understand the seemingly high level of problems that are just because the "normal" products don't get seen on here. Another positive step forward.
