1.65v RAM vs. 1.5v Ram on Sandy Bridge. I think I goofed

Hello All,

   Anyone try 1.65v RAM on their Sandy Bridge MOBO's, I know the spec sheet says 1.5V and no more that 1.58v. I have scoured the internet for an answer and I have read:  YES you can as long as you absolutely do not go over 1.65v, No you cant and follow the spec sheet, and Yes you can under volt your 1.65v RAM to 1.55 to 1.58v safely, if it runs stable at lower voltage than your good.

   I goofed  , even though I triple read and double check everything I still clicked buy on the wrong voltage RAM

  Anyone have any better knowledge than me on this issue....I want to build this thing already instead of RMA'ing...I know- I know.... , better safe than sorry, but if it truly doesn't matter then...

You can use 1.65V memory just fine on P67!

I have been using 1.76-1.86V for several weeks at very high speeds without any issues.   But to answer your worries again, yes that will be fine to use.

Yes  I agree. I was under the same impression before the launch and was led to understand that the 1.65v memory wasn't any good in these boards, however it turned out to be not the case at all. At least it makes life a little more simple.

Ya, if there was a 1.5V or even 1.57V restriction, they would have for sure plastered stickers all over the memory slots and sockets like they did with 1366 boards and we would see warnings all over the web.   This time the 1.5v indication is just a specification like you would see 1.8V on a DDR2 board.

There is also no 0.5v correlation for memory - QPI/Vtt in these boards either

Yes I noticed the memory voltage was just advisory However I wasn't aware of the no need for the 0.5v rule any more, thanks.

It was getting frustrating to try and parse out all talk on this issue.
