Problems getting DDR3-1600 to work on my H55N-USB3

Problems getting DDR3-1600 to work on my H55N-USB3
« on: March 28, 2011, 04:14:15 am »
I have been having issues with getting my 1600MHz memory working on my system without overclocking.

I even tried setting up in XMP profile and it even overclocks my system blck to 160MHz and lowers my multiplier down to 20 maintain stock processor speed.

I'm using BIOS F5.  Is there a BIOS that supports a higher memory divider?

Hi Mark,

Are you overclocking at the moment ?

Also can you post the stock settings of yopur memory please as well as the XMP settings ?

Yes, at the moment I'm overclocking.  It is the only way to get my memory to 1600MHz.  My memory divider stops at x10 and I need to get a x12 that doesn't seem to be supported by this ITX motherboard.

as for stock settings, not sure what you mean, but they are rated at 1600MHz @ 7-8-7-24 2T @ 1.35v
When I plug them in they are set at default to 9-9-9-24 1t @1333MHz
I don't know where to find all the XMP profile information, but when set it runs at 7-8-7-24 2T @ 1600MHz auto volts and blck gets set to 160 and my multiplier drops from x24 to x24 to keep my 3.2GHz rated processor speed.

I just don't think this motherboard supports 1600 without overclocking.  at least the ads for it says only max. 1333MHz RAM support.  I was just hoping there was a way to get 1600MHz or higher speed memory at default bclk as this will be a build for another person.

This board can do x12 memory, it's the CPU that limits the memory speeds.   What CPU are you using?

Please excuse the line across the image, I cropped this from another image I made while testing something else for someone.

You need i5 or above to have x12 memory multiplier.

The i5/i7 Lynnfield's have x12, and Clarkdals's have MANY memory multipliers (x6-x20+, but they suck at memory overclocking past 2100ish)

All i3's are limited to x10 memory multiplier.

The Lynnfield ones are awesome though, but not Clarkdale's, here's  my 8th place world record with Lynnfield 860  ;D

Awsome Lsdmeasap.  8) Wish I could get more bits to test with.

More bits eh?   How about bytes instead?  :D

I see you are getting into water cooling reviews now too!   You got a hookup or what?

Hi Lsdmeasap,

No proper hookup just a company I use for my copmponents has been quite generous with a few bits and pieces. Most of the devices I have bought myself recently to water cool the GA-P67A-UD5 motherboard. So I am just getting to grips with that now and making a few "adjustments". ;)

Ahh ok, I thought maybe you got hooked up with the companies to do reviews.   I noticed your Aqua Computer review, that's what brand of block I use (Cuples XT Di)

Yes actually a very nice filter. It will work fine for me as I use 10 mm ID hose but as I mentioned in the review the valves are a bit restrictive if you are using a larger bore pipe. Apart from that I was very impressed with it. I particularly liked the fact that it had a very large surface area for the filter medium so it doesn't clog easilly.
