A little Windows 7 and IE9 sound question
« on: April 07, 2011, 10:57:42 am »
OK,

a really dumb question but.......

How do you get the navigation sound in IE9 to work on Windows 7?
Before you jump in and tell me to check my settings in Sound Manager I have already done that. I have tried all the things I can think of but still no sounds when you click the forward, back navigation arrows in IE9.

I have to say that this is not a problem for me but I am being nagged at by my wife who likes to hear the click as she navigates through various websites. I never use this, in fact I always disable Windows Sounds as I find them damn annoying, but she swears blind it was working OK in IE8. However, yesterday her laptop updated to IE9 and now...... no click!

Please help as when my wife goes off on one, I really don't understand her.... she swears at me in Japanese and I'm sure it isn't at all polite.!
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

Don't take that sh*te off your wife mate! Give her as good as you get.... and then run fast!

I don't have any sounds in IE8 so stop her taking all those tablets and tell her it was all in her mind. ;D

Much as I would love to take your advice DM that won't help.

She wants her sounds and they were there before!
I use her laptop and I always found the clicking sound, when navigating the web, bloody annoying so it doesn't bother me that they aren't there now.

Is it a difference in IE9? Doesn't it make sounds when navigating in the same way IE8 used to?

OK Panic over I found the answer here: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2011/02/14/enable-clicking-navigation-sound-in-ie9/

Apparently IE9 doesn't use the navigation sounds by default and you have to manually enable it if you want the sounds.

Now if I could stop that damn clicking when my wife navigates the web, peace would reign in the absic household!

Nice one mate. I haven't got sounds on IE9 on my review computer because I haven't any speakers connected and that's fine by me!

Ogg, She's Japanese, nuff said!

I have tried getting her to use Firefox, Chrome and a plethora of other browsers but she just won't switch. It's not from a lack of effort on my part, I can tell you.  :-[

No I don't like him.

In fact no one liked Hari at school and no one would play with him in the school playground because he was very, very strange.
