Hi, i'm from Romania...
If i want to change the stock cooling from a HD4850. I have the permission to change it ? I mean to not break the warranty :-\
I must go to a service or something like that ?

Usually any major change like swapping the cooling system, fitting a water cooling block instead of stock cooling etc will void the warrranty.

You will have to ask them for their view on it but I suspect that it will be the same as here.

Who makes the card? If I remember correctly there are a few manufacturers which will allow it, but I think that might only be in specific high end cards.

I was assuming it was a Gigabyte card but I suppose it could have been a different manufacturer. :-\

Many manufacturers are willing to overlook such things as long as you mount the stock cooler back before sending the card for repairs. It's never certain, though and depends on the service you're sending the card to. Officialy, tampering with either hardware or software voids the warranty.

The biggest issue with swapping a heatsink is the possibility of doing physical damage to the card which is sure to void the warranty. That's also the main reason why companies don't allow it ( officialy, that is ).
