Hi!

I have just bought the Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 and I was unfortunately Rev 1.0 and I can see on the Gigabyte website that there are two newer 1.1 and 1.2.
I wonder what is the difference between them? Any performance changes?

Thanks in advance

Hi there,

not sure of the difference with the rev 1.1 but the rev 1.2 has had the Marvell SATA3 controller removed and replaced by the JMicron SATA2 controller.

Thanks for answer!  :)

Is there any changelog as I can see all the changes?
But there is probably no hardware change entries for CPU Compatibility and things that affect performance?

Trying to find out what has been changed is very difficult as none of the motherboard manufacturer's seem to want to release this information.

For a direct comparison of the 3 revisions you can check this list: http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/comparison/list.aspx?ck=2&pids=4001,3996,3894
and when it comes to CPU support from my checks it would seem that all three versions support the same processors. You can check this by clicking the CPU Support List button on the page for each of the revisions.
Rev 1.0 here: http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3894#ov
Rev 1.1 here: http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3996#ov
Rev 1.2 here: http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4001#ov
