Hi as above all the connections and wiring have been checked but can only get 10\100 speed ( led on back panel and network speed in windows) is there anything i can check or change ?

A couple of questions:
Do you have the latest drivers installed?
What BIOS are you running?

Are you definitley using cat6 gigabit cable? Is the switch/router etc rated at 1gbit?

Thanks for the replies all drivers bios are the latest connecting to a virgin super hub which is gigabit ready ( no settings to change) also cat 5e fully wired onboard and realtek utility say cable is fine

I think you need Cat6 for the true Gigabit connection. If memory serves me right that is what the specs call for.

Sorry people, thanks for all the helpful replies, turns out that my son had swapped his x box to router cable with mine as he liked the blue colour of mine and the x box has only 4 cables connected, so swapped back and everything is fine now(well except for me unplugging all the network cables remaking the joints and tearing my hair out)
