Ah, the good old days is what you are talking about. You only had to do something minor wrong and they would send you on a cruise to a far away land for a nice sunny holiday.....actually fairly much the same as nowadays  when I come to think about it!

I have to say Jannie, I was never into Hector's House but my brother, who is 3 years younger, adored him.

Of course once we finished reminiscing about these really old programmes then we can start on the really good stuff.......
Fireball XL5, Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet there really was a plethora of good children's TV back then.

Sadly though, there was also some really bad stuff.... (note here, not made in the UK I really mean!) Do you remember Clarence the Cross eyed Lion in "Daktari". What about Flipper? There was also Skippy the Bush Kangaroo. (probably both been barbecued by those Aussies now!)

Actually the original host was Eamonn Andrews and his comedic sidekick was Ronnie Corbett who started his long TV career with this children's programme.

Other Hosts included Michael Aspel, Ed "Stewpot" Stewart & Stu Francis. Apart from Peter Glaze & Ronnie Corbett  other comedians included Don Maclean (Not the singer!) Bernie Clifton, Little & Large to name a few.
