About: raid 0

i'm planning to get 2 new WD black edition 640Gb

 to run raid 0 and this is my first time on raid 0

 i want to know if i running raid 0

 can i still able to upgrade bios?

board : GA-P67A-UD4 B3

 The Bios screen that you see and use is totally separate and can be accessed always by tapping the delete key during boot-up......once your new drives are installed and detected Bios will need to be configured for raid0.........you'll also notice Ctrl+I becomes available during the post cycle to configure your raid set/strip size ect..........Remember, Raid0 means backup, backup, backup........You also might want to consider cloning the drive once up and running

let said i using raid 0 and now my bios version is  F3

then there is newer bios version F4 or even F6

can i flash/upgrade the bios?

will my raid 0 setup gone? after i upgrade my bios

 To be clearer.....After Bios flash................reboot and delete key to go back into Bios.............Load optimized defaults/save/reboot

 DEL key again on boot/ reset raid in bios (Not Ctrl+I..........this should not need to be touched but worth checking if your worried)/ check boot order/and anything else that has changed prior to Bios update/save and exit........reboot into windows.

Yes just to reiterate what Allan has said, there is no problem with updating the BIOS but you must remember to load Optimised BIOS Defaults and set your hard drives to RAID again BEFORE booting any further or you will lose your RAID.

i having another problem.. which i don't want to create more thread, causing too many problem

sometimes my system boot up into windows my mouse / other usb device lost connection, so i have to unplug and plugin again. "same usb 2.0 port"

i don't have any problem with other gigabyte board before like 945P, P35, G45 , P45, 890GX

but only P67 having this problem.

"Dark Mantis: remember last time i having G.Skill ram problem by setting 1600mhz? anyway i fixed it. i went down to CDL Trading company is under Gigabyte RMA service centre, a nice guy checked for me. one of my ram spoil, so i rma it and replaced with new ram. now system running fine! ^^ thank you"

i search around google.. some forums said that raid 0 don't need to defrag??

 it that true? but i not using SSD.
 some said can be defrag


 so my Question is

 can i defrag my hard disk on raid 0?

 Absolutely!........in fact, have a look at "Ultimate Defrag" one of the best ones out there (personal opinion only)

I agree. I use Ultimate Defrag as well. Excellent program.

No reason at all why you should not defrag a RAID array. Apart from how it deals with the data it still writes it to disk the same. If you are using magnetic platter drives then you should run a defragger on a regular basis.

i just finish install all my software on my WDC Black Edition 1TB x 2  Raid 0

while i installing windows 7 sp1 disc. i try to load raid driver to install but it fail to install the raid driver so i no more other way is to press Next and it install the windows for me and so far no problem have been running 8 hrs without shut down.

how come don't need raid driver???
i read from the Manuel book it's require to install raid driver

for myself i prefer O&O Defrag 14 Professional
have been using it since version 10, it's Best paid software

 I've scratched my head over this several times reading conflicting information....The short answer is ,...Intel supplied Microsoft with  ICH9/10R//ACHI drivers for the then imminent release of Windows 7 included  on your installation CD/DVD of windows........Some argue,... having the absolutely latest drivers is critical.......some say bull dust.....Anyone else care to comment on this or am I going to loose my other naker.....hehe!

No I think you're safe on this one Allan. What you said is fairly much right there and I think now even the Intel RST drivers are included on the Windows 7 SP1 disk. If not they are downloadable from Intel's website.

i went to intel web site and i press check for driver update and intel show me an upgrade over this

older version Intel® Rapid Storage Technology version 8

then i install latest version Intel® Rapid Storage Technology version 10 ^^

i wonder do i need to install Gigabyte XHD (eXtreme HardDrive)?
