which upgrade first?

Guys,

After reading your raving reviews on the OCZ Revo x2, I decided I definitely wanted one until......

Looking at the PRICE!

$400 for a 100GB SSD? My goodness...that is nearly more than it cost me for my entire 2500k build!

After reading the price at New Egg, I almost needed CPR.

How can you justify paying so much for such a tiny, eeny, weenie, SSD?

The only way I could afford such a price is if I took the 65 year old gold fillings out of my wife's teeth and pawned them at the local pawn shop, and she definitely would not allow that!

DM, does money grow on trees in the UK, or is someone missing their gold fillings?

  Soar

There was a man, who negotiated with a dentist, ... to get the price for a deep filling as low as humanly possible, ... after half an hour of whittling down the price of all the extras like sterilized equipment, Local anaesthetic ect..........they finally came to a figure they where both happy with, when offered a Tuesday 10:00am appointment the man said.........."I'll make sure the wife's there on time"

                                                              " Do it while she's asleep "

Yes Soar they are pricie.........cutting edge..........We all have to make Sacrifices to get what we want.........I had to sell some of my wife's Jewellery

LOL!

Alan, you are again in top form!  You always make me laugh with your great humor.  Ok, but how can I remove the gold fillings if she is a very light sleeper?

Valium + Scotch......the cost will be worth it!.... ;D

Serious though......just like anything in the PC field.........prices will come down dramatically when someone else enters this market.

Hi Soar,

Yes it is a lot of money and I must admit to being on a knife edge for a while trying to decide whether it was worth it but speed caught up with me in the end and I just had to have one. The wife still hsn't noticed the gaping hole in our back account!

This should get you about one more month to live!

You wouldn't say that if you were married to my wife! Being Japanese, she has developed some very painful and slow methods of killing, discovered by watching Japanese game shows!  :P

She threatens me with these if I don't give her a receipt for buying a packet of mints from the corner shop!!

Faking a bank statement...... I dread to think what she would do to me..... The RevoDrive will just have to wait..... I'm a coward!  :-[
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

Don't really understand that one, considering you already have a GPU set on the board.........the revo sits underneath the GPU in slot 2 or any slot that is at least X4 PCI-E  ::)

 Aussie Allan

sorry was under the impression it only fitted in the small PCI slots under the northbridge cooler on my board

Not a problem, common misunderstanding with the contacts spigot so short.......I'm trying to find out if you can raid them with so many spare slots on the board ;D

I think that you get to a point of diminishing returns if you try to add any more Revos. The only thing that would be worth doing is adding more ML NAND chips to give a higher capacity which can also increase write speed a little.
