ep45 ud3r freezing randomly
« on: May 18, 2011, 08:41:39 pm »
Hey guys, Im running into some issues with my PC hanging. First off, here's the specs:

MB: Gigabyte GA EP45-UD3L
CPU: Quad core 2.6
MEM: ADATA 1333 2GBx2 (4GB) DDR3
VGA: COLOURFUL ATI HD5770/COLOURFUL NVIDIA 9600 GSO
HDD: X2 500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200

Ive been experiencing random freezing. A new install of win7 Ultimate, Its not overheating, nothing's been overclocked,
initially figured it was the graphics card/drivers..changed them-still freezing, changed HDDs - still hanging...kinda lost for
options..could it possibly be RAM/MOBO/PROCESSOR..any help would be appreciated.

You didn't say whether this is a new build or a machine that has just started playing up ?.........more information please......Like any new hardware changes ?,...BIOS set to IDE or ACHI for the install........did the problems start after the new OS install, and lastly , was it an upgrade or fresh install

I've had the build for a few months now..the problem seemed to have been there from the get go..ive recently decided to use the PC for 3D work rather than gaming-its initial purpose-hence why i don't need the constant hang ups. They've been no recent hardware changes, it misbehaves even after a clean install..freezing occurs irrespective of whether i'm gaming, surfing, working etc..im using default BIOS settings..

Also im using a 500W coolermaster psu which should be good enough to power the system adequately..

You stated "Default BIOS settings" have you reset to "Optimized default" after latest bios flash, loading a system OS under IDE then changing to ACHI will course problems ??

Hi

Firstly I notice that you say you have two graphics cards installed, an AMD radeon and a nVidia one. This is asking for problems from the outset.

Also you seem to think that your PSU is powerful enough but I am not so sure. How old is it for a start ? They deteriorate with age and use.
