Hey digitalnerd,

Hope all is going well with your build. I just wanted to say that we have almost the exact same build, but just like the mod said I upgraded the 2 XFX 4850's that I had with 2X MSI 6950 2gb models. I also have a kingston SSD drive, but I will be updating that soon for an SATA III type. I have been looking at either the OCZ vertex(?) the one that advertised about 450read and 400write. Those are approx. numbers I forget what they were.

Anyway, if you have any questions or comments or anything I will see if I can help. I have been running my Sandy Bridge system for a couple or three weeks and it has been great! I went from the Asus P6T w/ a 920 to this and having the unlocked processor is awesome! the last unlocked one I really had this much fun with was the old AMD processors that you could crack the slotket open, put the DIP switch board thingy on it adjust it that way. that was a fun way to do it. That was just before the pencil trick on the Athlon's.

Anyway, that's my all I got. Let me know how things are going with your build and if you have any pointers for me, let me know. The only thing that I still am having trouble with is that I cant get into the BIOS using my Logitech keyboard.

Hi

The drive you are referring to is the OCZ Vertex3. It is a SATA3 drive and is about the fastest around at the moment. If you want real speed however have a look at the OCZ Revodrive X2 PCI-Express SSD - Read 740MB/s Write 690MB/s 100k IOPS. Now that is a real flyer!

I have seen those and the only thing that makes me a bit leary is that some of the reviews show SSD drives in RAID beatng them in real world testing. Give me a bit, I will see if I cant find that information again.

I gotta say they look great though! And thanks for the reply!

Also, what do you think of the IBIS (am I getting the nomenclature correct?) drives? If you look at anand, he has some reviews that show those drives keeping up with the Revo.

I cant seem to find the review(s) that had the vertex in RAID 0 beating the revo in some tests, but I run across this: http://hothardware.com/Articles/Fusionio-ioXtreme-PCI-Express-SSD-Review/

Look at those read speeds! 1.4 and 2.1 gb/sec! that is just nuts.

Some seriously fast speeds there but there have been for a while now if you look in the Enterprise area. Just wish I could afford as couple. :-\

Hi

The thing is you are going to gain nothing from someone just telling you to change x to y. You need to understand what you are doing and why.

Basically these unlocked processors are so easy to overclock that you will get the general idea in no time. They rely mainly on the multiplier and so you can

overclock by just changing one setting.

I would advise you to read this at least as a start. Although it was written for the Sandy Bridge platform it is almost identical.

FF is the code to show a successful POST attempt so the short answer is yes! It shows that everything has tested out perfectly. ;)
