Radeon HD 6850 - Blurry Screen

Radeon HD 6850 - Blurry Screen
« on: July 12, 2011, 04:01:39 am »
Phenom II X4 B55
8 GB G. Skill DDR3 1333
Gigabyte Radeon HD 6850 (Overclocked Edition)
2 x 500 GB Seagate HDD's
Asus 19" LED Monitor

Here is the Problem: At first certain applications would look blurred out, and the text all fuzzy. This was primarily when using iTunes. Next came Firefox. And now Chrome is starting to look fuzzy.

Here is what I have tried:

1) Uninstalled and re-installed the latest AMD driver
2) Tried another DVI port
3) Tried an HDMI port
4) Tried using an HDTV
5) I also tried using my onboard video, which actually looked clear
6) Did extensive stress testing which did not reveal anything

This is a link to another support forum where I have some better images

Hi

Does this only happen when using online content or is it the same with all graphical display ?

Have you tried dropping the clock speed of your card down to stock speeds ?

To be honest, yes. It occurs when using the iTunes store and NOT when i'm in my iTunes library. It also happens in Firefox and a little in Chrome. I have tried reducing the clock speeds, and that did not work...

It might be worth trying another browser like IE and see if the problem persists.

Look in Catalyst parameters, i have see :

- Refresh to 3D active or not active
- Refresh for monitor (  force refresh 56 , ... to 75 Hz )

Also look if you have not a driver for your monotor by exemple i have found this :

This is just getting worse, now Windows Media Center has been blurred. Also, Asus does not have a driver for my monitor, the VH198T. I think I am just going to RMA the card, because it looks fine on the onboard Radeon HD 4250. Here is another screenshot...

Yes with MalwareBytes, Spybot, and Avast.

OK someone over at the AMD forums knew what was going on. It was a setting in CCC that needed to be changed. So glad my card is not bad...

Anyways, for future reference, here is the fix.

Turn off MLAA ( morphological AA ) / Surface Format Optimisation in CCC
