should have registered earlier really, I built this system Oct 09 and it is by far the happiest I have been with a build, Can't believe it is still holding its own and performing well in games etc :)
I started out with an old packard bell (it was about 2001 lol) and upgrading that best I could.
Then when I had done all I could to that I did my first build with sckt 939 on an Asus board with an Asus 6800Gt, the board died after not very long, starting with the common dodgy nb fan and after months of email tennis to Asus I just gave up with them and vowed never to buy again. Next board for that PC was Abit which wasn't too bad.
I started doing builds for family and friends and found myself favouring Gigabyte parts for them, only 1 friend has come back to me with a problem and after some investigation it turned out instead of shutting down his PC properly, he had been switching it off at the wall LOL. I told him the importance of shutting down properly and he hasn't come back since.
So I spoiled myself in Oct 09 and I've been happy ever since.
As you can see in my sig, I unlocked my 550BE to a quad core and it has been a little trooper at 3.7ghz
I only upped the voltage 1 or 2 increments in bios (1.425) and put the ram to its reccomended voltage in bios, rest is just multiplier.

Any tips would be apreciated, would I be better knocking my ram down to 1333mhz for tighter timings or keep it at 1600mhz 9-9-9-24?

Anyway, just thought I would say hi and thanks to my current company of choice, what's your story?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I've built a lot of PC's in the past 10 years, all on Gigabyte boards and I have yet to have one come back at me due to motherboard hardware issues, so I can fully appreciate your comments. I had a couple of moments with PSU's (not Gigabyte) but that was due to a lack of funds and trying to save money. Lessons learnt and no low cost PSU's used again.

With regard to your own rig I would recommend that you pull back the RAM to 1333MHz. For a better understanding of why this should be you might like to look through this sticky: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,2515.0.html This is not due to Gigabyte boards but the Memory controllers on the AM3 processors.
