GA-MA770T-UD3--> cant adjust bios!

Suddenly I realized that most of the Bios options became not adjustable, even those about "load default settings"...
What is this about? Never seen it before in any mobo.

Could you post a couple of screen shots of your BIOS as there are always some items that are locked by default and this may just be the case with what you are seeing.

I m not talking about locked options, I m talking for options that suddenly cant set them.
I had F8, yesterday updated to F10 and so far bios is normal, but can I be sure it will remain so?

Have u ever seen such matter?
What could be the cause?

how did you update the BIOS? Did you use QFlash or the @BIOS utility?

To answer your question, yes I have seen this before and it is often due to a glitch with the BIOS update. Easiest thing to do is reflash BIOS using the QFlash utility remembering to delete the "Keep DMI Data" option and then reload Optimised Defaults, reboot then make any changes you want before BOOTING into the OS again.

I used the @Bios, job finished in seconds.

Note that before that I had removed the battery, bios was adjustable only for one restart.

I bought recently this mobo(rev.1.5)  and I had the default bios(F8), so there was no any glitch with bios update.

One more thing, this mobo supposed to be "dual bios" right? Where was that second saved bios for automatically restoration?...

I would suggest you reflash BIOS using the QFlash utility and in future, avoid using @BIOS. If you are not sure how to update BIOS using QFlash check here: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,2441.0.html Whilst using @BIOS seems like a good idea it does add another layer of potential problems as it flashes BIOS through the Windows OS.

The Back-up BIOS will normally only kick in if there is a major problem with the main BIOS. This process is automatic and there is not much, as a user, that you can really do.

However, if you want to try and kick in the Back-Up BIOS manually you need to follow these steps:
Switch of PC
Turn PC back on and immediately turn off the power supply either by the switch on the PSU or the Wall socket.
Keep the power switch on the PC pressed in and reconnect the power supply to the PC
Back-Up BIOS should then kick in

Let me make something clear that you misunderstood it. The problem didnt come after I updated bios. Problem was before any update.
After the update problem seems to be solved. I ll check it every day.

I dont see any reason to use anything else than @bios program, but this is an offtopic matter.

Now about that Dual Bios function, when someone buys this mobo, the two bios exist already, right?
Not adjustable options isnt major problem?! U cant even reset to default settings.

I dont want to do it manually, I just wonder why the second bios didnt work in my case.

The second BIOS will only work when the Main BIOS is badly corrupted.

You can check BIOS versions of both chips by pressing the F9 key on the BIOS screen home page.

BIOS can become slightly corrupted and exhibit problems such as you have encountered through many things. Usually clearing CMOS is enough to get things up and running properly again but sometimes reflashing BIOS is the best way.

Use @BIOS with caution, there are cases on this forum where things have gone wrong using @BIOS and the motherboard has failed completely. QFlash is a much safer and more reliable method for updating BIOS.

A bios that u cannot set its options, isnt badly corrupted?

As I said, I did cleared CMOS, but without result.

I need to learn why I had that strange problem, so that I wont meet it again in the future.
If tomorrow a new options freeze come, what version shall I  update? Theres no any other at this time...

I would certainly agree with absic when he advises you to steer clear of the @BIOS program. It sits on top of the OS and as such has a much greater chance of failure or freezing which is the last thing you want when doing a BIOS flash. The QFlash BIOS Utility is much safer and we would always recommend it's use over the @BIOS program.

You can force the Backup BIOS to kick in by shutting down the PSU from the wall, then hold down your case power button in and then turn on the power supply button, a few seconds later the board will start, shut off the power supply then.   Then you can turn on the power supply again and power up the board normally and DualBIOS will kick in.

Hi, sorry you feel talk about @BIOS is off topic but it isn't really and it is important for any future BIOS updates you may make.

I have already answered your questions but, in the interest of clarity I will restate them for you.

Your F10 BIOS should work OK but, if it doesn't then you will need to reflash using QFlash. (hence the discussion against using @BIOS)

Why your F8 BIOS exhibited "locked" Options could be due to many things and will not be an issue now you have updated to F10. Without knowing the full history of your set-up it is impossible to say why this has happened but glitches to BIOS can be caused by power issues, bad shut down or restart and any number of things.

The Dual BIOS will only work if the Main BIOS has become so badly corrupted that the PC won't POST normally. This was not the case with you as the PC would POST it was just some menu items were locked. The PC would still function OK.

Hi there, well as I said the problem  appeared with the already factory installed bios(F8) so u understand that the bios update matter is offtopic, right?

I must tell u I have some electicity problem in my house, sometimes when I shut down the psu, the wall switch falls down... So maybe freeze came because of that.

- Now, one more question about this mobo
I have installed in the back of the case a  Scythe fan 120mm. Its 3-pin but I know that in Gigabyte mobos we have the PWM function even with 3-pin like it was 4-pin, right?
My fan is rpm800. When systen starts its still, after a while starts and goes up to 500rpm. Where is this option in bios?
I d like to set  the fan to start after a bigger temp and then to go more than 500rpm.
