Hi Allan,

No, it's really strange, I can run for several hours without seeing it then all of a sudden it will appear. I can dismiss the popup and not see it again but sometimes it will appear with regular monotony every 5-10 minutes. I don't change anything and it will vanish and I might not see it for a day or two.

I have just removed ITunes (what a job that is!) and will see if that makes a difference.

Not much of a gambler but it isn't ITunes causing the problem. Removed it yesterday and this morning, not long after starting the PC up popped the message.

Probably IE9 or Flash Player as I was watching the Grand Prix at the time. I'll switch to Chrome and see what happens! Boy, I love this kind of issue, so many options to choose from.  :D

The most annoying thing is I remember having the same error message pop up  several months ago but can't for the life of me remember what was causing it. It must have been simple though as I sorted it out quickly. :-\  Have you checked the USB settings in the BIOS ?

Hi DM,

actually think AA was right (damn his Aussie hide) when he said it was IE9. Not used it today (after watching Grand Prix)) and not had message popup at all. Further testing to make sure but it has been pretty strange to trace as it only seemed to start when I did the hardware upgrades.

Thinking back, when I upgraded the GPU's I also followed them fairly quickly with the SSD's (I'm getting old) and it's probably something to do with IE9 and the tweaks I have made to the registry settings. Windows doesn't like you mucking around with some settings. Luckily though, I am quite happy using Chrome as my default browser if it does come down to this.

Come to think about it that time I had the problem might well have coincided with when I updated to IE9 the first time before I removed it again because of the issues. It hasn't happened this time but I am going to get rid anyway as I have just about had enough of it now.

OK, just thought I ought to give a final update on this. I didn't remove IE9 but I did remove I-Tunes (I switched to Songbird instead) and since doing this I haven't had the annoying messages at all.

Still not sure where the conflict came from or why but hey, that's computers for you!  :D

Certainly a weird thing and even weirder when it disappears without your intervention really. :-\
