9600GT Silent booting problem

9600GT Silent booting problem
« on: June 11, 2008, 03:42:18 pm »
A couple of weeks ago I build a new system with te following stuff:

- Gigabyte P35 motherboard (GA-EP35C-DS3R rev.2.1)
- Gigabyte 9600 GT Turboforce silent (GV-NX96T512HP rev.2.0)
- Intel Core2Duo E8400 @ 3.0 Ghz with Thermalright TRUE120
- OCZ ReaperX HPC PC2-6400 4GB (OCZ2RPX800EB4GK)
- Corsair HX620W (cmpsu-620hx)
- Gigabyte Triton 180 Case

The problem is that sometimes when booting I get fast moving green dots during POST and these are sometimes gone when starting windows (Vista32SP1/XP32SP3) but it often results in a flickering screen from black to normal desktop when in windows. If I change the resolution in windows from 1280x1024 to 1024x768 the problem is solved and I can change it back to 1280x1024 without a problem. Normally this problem also disappears when I reboot the system (cold and/or warm). Once it booted ok I can work fine and even play games like Bioshock or Crysis for hours without any artifacts or problems. This is already my second card (GV-NX96T512HP rev.2.0) and the first one was even worse, it often did not display anything until windows started and often had perminent artifacts with strange dancing stripes on te windows desktop. The second card is back for RMA but the shop is not yet able te reproduce te problem.

Hopefully anyone has some ideas or even recognizes this and can help me solve the problem.

Hi SilentGFX

very strange visual effects indeed.
how are the testing results from the shop where you bought it ? Was the VGA already repaired?
ZX-S & C64 are still my favourites ;-)
