If your CPU isn't installed yet then your motherboard isn't going to do anything regardless! You can always take your motherboard to a local shop and get them to update the BIOS so that it does support your CPU.

Wait... what?

The F12 bios is the only one that supports the Q8400.

I did take the pc to a tec assist and they got to the same problem: F12 bios = reboot loop. Same with the F11 bios.

I have the Q8400 running already (replaced a E6750), but due to no official support (microcode thingy) the cpu isn't recognized and makes no use of SSE4.

I just tried to update to a beta F13b bios. It didn't work either, it went into a reboot loop after post screen.

So there is something very wrong with these bioses or mobos since I'm not the only one facing this.

My apologies if you have already answered this but how did you run the BIOS updates ?

A question :

Is your CPU a new or used ( possible bad because overclocked before )

After copying all the bioses to a pendrive each in a folder of their own, 1) rebooted, 2) went into bios, 3) loaded optimized defaults, 4) rebooted, 5) flashed with q-flash (setting "keep dmi data" enabled or disabled didn't change the results), 6) rebooted, 7) loaded optimized defaults, 8) rebooted. All bioses from F6 to F10 work perfectly. F11, F12 and F13b bioses make the pc run into a reboot loop past the POST screen.

Then followed the unplug power cable and remove battery (for 10min) suggestions, and started over. Needless to say, I'm still stuck with the F10 bios.

The Q8400 is new.

The E6750 was new when I bought it 3 years ago. I had it overclocked to 2.8GHz (7x400) for a while, no errors in a 24 hours run on prime95. Then I brought it down to stock clock afraid that Bad Company 2 could possibly be sensitive to overclocks, even though the game has freezing/ctd bugs that lots of people face.
