GIGABYTE, a leading manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards, is pleased to announce that round one of the Beat Me If You Dare competition ended on October 31st. GIGABYTE would like to extend our congratulations to the winners, whose prizes will be doubled since they were successful in beating the top scores benchmarked by the GIGABYTE in-house OC team.

To kick off the contest, GIGABYTE’s in-house OC team set a new 3DMark Vantage world record with an overall score of 16877 and an incredible GPU score of 15297 with a blazing fast GPU clock of 1100 MHz and memory clock of 1400 MHz. It was then up to the contestants to see if they had the nerve and skill to beat the GIGABYTE record. There were 6 contestants in round one who were able to get their GPU clock over 1100 MHz. Mr. Jon Sandström from Sweden, using a GIGABYTE GTX 260 Super Overclock Edition, successfully conquered the bottleneck and pushed his GPU clock up to an astounding 1200 MHz.

The NVIDIA GTX 260 has proven time and time again to be an amazing overclocking GPU, continually allowing users to break and set higher and higher new world records. Thanks in part to the Beat Me If You Dare competition and all the overclockers’ amazing work, the GTX 260 world record ceiling has possibly been reached with Hipro5 from Greece setting a new 3DMark GPU world record at 16658 with GIGABYTE GTX 260 Super Overclock Edition. GIGABYTE would like to congratulate all contestants for their amazing scores.

Round One Winners:
First place: Hipro5 from Greece
Second place: Aristidis & Stelios from Greece
Third place: James Trevaskis from Australia
Fourth place: Mike Graf from U.S.A.
Fifth place: Jon Sandström from Sweden
Please see the Winners Page: http://event.gigabyte.com.tw/BeatMeIfYouDareRound1/Winners.aspx

GIGABYTE would like to apologize to all contestants for the score uploading issues and incorrect countdown timer on the Beat Me If You Dare event website. Due to these challenges, GIGABYTE allowed users to upload their submissions on the event website, XtremeSystems forum as well as by email. As several users reported the countdown clock being inaccurate in their region, we also accepted valid scores after the official cutoff time. While having to make a judgment call in a competition is never an ideal outcome, we felt it necessary to include valid scores submitted in good faith. We thank all the contestants for their understanding and promise a smoother round two.

The following will be awarded to the highest score winners:
Hipro5 will be awarded USD3000.
Aristidis & Stelios will be awarded two pieces of GIGABYTE GTX 295 graphics card.

Due to submission failure on the Beat Me If You Dare event website, GIGABYTE extends the following to the other award winners:
James Trevaskis will be awarded USD3000.
Mike Graf will be awarded two pieces of GIGABYTE GTX 295 graphics card.
Jon Sandström will be awarded two pieces of GIGABYTE GTX 285 graphics card.

Beat Me If You Dare is running a round two competition starting on November 1st and finishing on November 30th. Contestants may use any brand of GTX 275 Graphics Card and there is no hardware limitation for participation. Prizes will be awarded for the top 3DMark Vantage performance scores and benchmark fps score in Resident Evil 5.
