can you help me? GA-990FXA-UD3
« on: June 22, 2011, 08:16:17 pm »
Hi there,
Finally I decided to buy GA-990FXA-UD3 because for my devices this is the best.

But now I have one problem, I have three hard disk, all devices are WD but all devices are diferent sizes. I have like first hard disk one WD 1TB size (WD caviar green) the problem is when I turn on sometimes it starts correctly and sometimes I have black screen with the cursor at the top left and it doesn't charge the system until I push a reset button.

Do you have any idea that what can I do?

Should I put another hard disk for to start?

Hi there,

it is not a good idea to use a "green" drive as you primary BOOT drive (the one with the OS installed on it) as they are much better as a storage drive.
If you can change you main BOOT drive you should find things improve.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

Yes, I understand and it is something that is not widely shouted about. The big problem with the "Green" drives is the fact that they want to power down too much in an effort to save energy. This is not a good thing for the main drive to do, as you can imagine.  :o

There have been plenty of other users on the forum who have come across the same problem and I doubt you will be the last.  ;)

Yes it's true I could find that similar situation  when I had the other motherboard sometimes I could hear one device stopped. So you're telling me, I think it's this device.
However my problem it was other, the problem was connecting too many devices on the same cable from the power supply and so could not boot disk.

I hope to have finished with the problem :)

Hi again,

How are you SATA devices connected to the motherboard?
Are you using AHCI Mode for all of them?

If you are using AHCI Mode for all devices I would suggest that you try moving the BlueRay and DVD writers to ports 4 & 5 and set the control for these in BIOS to Native IDE. There are sometimes problems of this nature caused by SATA DVD,BD and CD writers when running in AHCI Mode.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

Hi there.

I didn't have on AHCI mode, it was on Native IDE. But now I've put on AHCI and also Sata 4&5 on IDE and Ports as ESP from 0 to 3 in Enable. now it looks like work better. I don't know, I will try let it and I will see if improve it.

I'll bring updates.

Hi there
I have bad news :(, now ocassionally appears this screen and stays there the pc doesn't run. Pc and I went into a loop in which I try to restart and the pc doesn't work even not appear "lauding operating system" so all the time, it doesn't even let me enter the bios, until I unplug the electricity.

I have learned another way to boot the pc is when I go start push  F12  to enter boot mode and I tell it which hard disk is boot. but this it doesn't work ever.

I'm desperate and I think  I'm going to go tomorrow at store where I bought the motherboard and they'll try it.

this is the firts time I can't configurate one PC :(

and so sorry for my bad English. :-\
