« on: June 26, 2011, 04:18:18 pm »
Hello , i have a problem:

i bought a pc with 880GM-USB3 mobo , my problem is that when trying to boot from devices like DVD or USB , it simply doesn't do it
in the hard drive is installed windows 7 and works great , but when i try to install other SO, i cant

the SOs that i tried where win Xp , arch linux , ubuntu (DVD and USB ) none one works here
and after checking in my other pc they boot perfectly there

ive selected the boot device priority from the BIOS as first CD , USB , and last HDD but still it only boots from the HDD

what is the problem? :'(

PC specs:

 880GM-USB3
Phenom II x6 1055T
4 gigs ram

Thx for your time

Hi

Have you tried pressing F12 when booting to bring up the boot menu and select your chosen device from there ?

Was this a new computer that you purchased ? If so ask the retailer to sort it for you.

Yeah ive tried pressing F12 to select the primary device from boot but still nothing
eg: i select CDROM press Enter , then it takes 1 or 2 secs the screen in black and start from HDD with W7

dunno really what could this be , i mean , everything looks all right , it doesnt looks like the mobo has any kind of error
it just dont boot

maybe clearing Cmos ? i would like to fix this myself but if i had no other choice , ill have to send it to the shop
btw yes its new , and the cdrom works good also the USB

Try setting the USB-HDD to number one in the boot priority.
Also make sure that you are using a USB 2.0 port to install
from a flash drive. I know that I have had issues using USB 3.0 ports
and Linux together with installing or
running a live linux distro.
