GV-N560SO-1GI-950 rev 2.0 Questions.

Hey Gigabros,

A few weeks ago I was looking into buying a Gigabyte GTX 560 Ti and was sold on the SOC version, then literally a day after making my decision the revision 2.0 of the 950Mhz version appeared on Gigabytes product list.

Now I was wondering (since its been on gigabytes website a couple of weeks now) when will this graphics card be available to buy in the UK? I've been checking Dabs, Scan, Amazon, Ebuyer and no one seems to be stocking it yet. How long do Gigabyte products usually take to hit retailers shelves?

I would quite like to buy the revision 2.0 as it has obvious improvements to support a higher clock on the 560Ti chip (8pin+6pin connectors, up from 6+6 and what looks like a new heatsink, and new fans).

So does anyone have ANY information on when this GPU will be available to buy in the UK? The ASUS DirectCUII TOP has just gone down to £175 and i'm now very tempted to buy it if I have to wait a long time for the revision 2.0 Gigabyte.

  If you ring Scan customer support, they will have an answer on availability or time!........there support service is excellent, the guy's on the phones are competent enthusiasts..........not trained monkeys.

By the way the one you linked is the revision 1.0, and is the card I was going to get. But now I will get the revision 2.0 as in the picture in the original post or the ASUS TOP if I can't get the Gigabyte soonish. I would rather get the ASUS TOP than the revision 1.0 of the SOC as revision 1.0 is known to run extremely hot (which is a problem now it is summer) and the fans can get quite noisy which I want to avoid. Where as the ASUS has a very good heat sink and quiet fans.

However I am willing to wait for the Gigabyte revision 2.0 as it has better power connectivity (8pin+6pin) which should make overclocking easier, it supposedly has very quiet fans and looks to have a decent heat sink. Also I have a Gigabyte motherboard and the Gigabyte graphics card would look better in my case as the PCBs would be the same colour.

Again thanks for your help, i'll give Scan a call and post back here after if they can give me a date or not.

 Cool!..........on a second note!..........you may have guessed I'm from OZ.........We all took to water cooling like ducks to water because of the the higher ambient temps we have to deal with.

 I have a GTX-480 (stock) on water........It's really quiet!   tee hee!..........mores to the point, it will run at 950mhz all day, but I run it at 940 just to ensure a long life.............the SOCs we see all the time on this site....

Water cooling does seem pretty cool, but a bit overkill here in the UK. Also I don't have the money to invest in water cooling atm and i'm not sure I would need it as ambient temperatures are pretty low all year round here apart from in July and August.

Also that's a very nice overclock on the GTX 480

I am not sure that I agree with you regarding the need to use water cooling over here in the UK Hovis. Like Allan I too liquid cool all my system and it is a pleasure to use.  The newer Z68 boards don't get so hot as the X58 series but even so the amount of noise that is eliminated makes it a worthwhile excersie on it's own. The GPU gains more from the watercooling than the CPU in most cases and my graphics card, 6970, will run Furmark all day and not get much above 40C.

Sorry to go off topic but since you're now convincing me, how much did your setups cost you both? I mean, I really don't have enough money at the moment for anything more than a new GPU. But if I manage to get some work over the summer... well you never know.

So yh how much for a water cooling setup?

On topic: Gigabyte said they think the revision 2.0 will be available towards the end of July. I haven't had the time to speak to Scan yet.

Well the thing is to not go into it half-cocked. If you are serious about entering the watercooling fraternity then you will need to do a bit of background swatting. Stick with good quality makes and only copper or stainless steel components and you wont go too far wrong. I would say at a rough guess you could start for about £300.00 and then add to it as you can. Don't buy a kit though. You need to get what fits your system.

 Ditto with DM on price I think for a basic yet quality system.........you could start with where you get the best value for your money and that's CPU and GPU.........buying a big enough pump and Reservoir that will handle the additions that can come later as the funds become available.

Thanks for the advice, £300 is a lot and I think running on air coolers is fine for me atm.

Maybe i'll get water cooling in the future and create a new thread

I've been busy the past 2 days and might give Scan and bell tomorrow, although Gigabyte sales support did say it should be available by the end of July. Although I don't know whether that will be wide spread availability or just in a couple of places.
