Problem Triple Channell on GA-X58-UD7 rev. 2.0
« on: July 05, 2011, 11:30:50 am »
CONFIGURATION
INTEL  i7 960 (Bloomfield) Quad Core 3,2 Ghz socket LGA1366
Motherboard GA-X58A-UD7 BIOS FC
KINGSTON  Dimm HyperX Genesis 12 Gb (3x 4 Gb) ddr3 Triple Channel 1600 Mhz NON-ECC CL9 XMP 1,65v

Hi,
after several days of testing I can't use 24GB of RAM.

The RAM purchased is reported in the Vendors List, but is only seen in the 16GB Dual Channell, Channell mode.
The 5 and 6 blocks of RAM are seen by bios but not activated.

Even putting only 3 DIMM Triple Channell (banks 1,3,5) the MB sees only the first two.

So in any configuration and DDR3_6 DDR3_5 modules are not activated.

When the BIOS boot with 6 DIMMS goes into recovery mode to over voltage.

Do you have a solutions on? Must be use recommends settings specifically to 24GB of RAM in Triple Channell?

I bought this configuration for video processing and I would like to use all 24GB of RAM.

Thanks and Best Regards
Dario Bodrato

OK, but the problem is first to load Windows7.
The DDR3_5 and DDR3_6 sockets don't are active just in BIOS loading.

Thanks

Mr Goggle found several hits for triple channel problems with this board with early Bios versions.........Update to latest Bios via Qflash and report back your findings.

The BIOS is FC, the last one.
I read of problems with cpu socket but before work on it I want to be safe that isn't a problem of Bios configuration.

Thanks

Hi clear the CMOS and then load Optimised BIOS Defaults first.

Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.

Once done remove the motherboard battery for at least one hour before replacing it.

Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.

You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Optimised BIOS Defaults.

Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self like disabling the floppy drive, disabling the full screen logo and making the HDD the primary boot device and then press F10 to save and exit.

If you still have the same problem then post back and we can go onto the next stage.

The Station-drivers BIOS FD11 is not  an official BIOS beta , i think

I have tested F8a beta ( same site ) and at startup i have Option ROM error with my HighPoint RR622 cards because BIOS is updated with non compatible INTEL firmware version  v10.5.1.1070

Dear Aussie,
why I can't load the FD11 2 MB bios with Q-Flash? The prompt result is bad dimension file.

Now I try your suggestions to reset the Bios.

Thanks

Dario

It is because the BIOS file size has changed and is now bigger to accomodate the UEFI BIOS extras. This will stop the direct flashing of the smaller BIOS with the larger one via QFlash. You will have to use FlashSPI instead.

I applied your instructions to reset the CMOS.
After two auto reboots the SO read 24 GB corretly.

At this point is necessary to flash the FD11 BIOS?

Thank You very much to help me.
