Dead X58A-UD3R

I was here with exactly the same problems about 4 months ago on my 2 year old x58a-ud5? i think it was. Anyways, this time its the X58A-UD3R only 4 months old, everything has started breaking or getting out of date in the PC. Just lost 1 of my 2 SSD hard drives (120Gb now its a useless paper weight lol), it was 2 years old, replaced it with an HDD 2TB Western Digital, and just updated my GPU from a Nvidia 295Gtx to an ATI HD6950. Now whilst playing a game, it just switched off... no warning, nothing. I thought a power cut. But other things were still on, and then it wouldnt restart at all. When i opened up the PC, the fans spin at 1st start up from cold... but nothing from a restart there on, unless you power off completely at the back switch and then turn it on again, same thing, fans spin 1 second... off and nothing.

So im running:

Win7
X58A-UD3R
I7 940 2.93Ghz (No O/C)
6Gb Ram
ATI HD6950
1 x SSD (120Gb) + 1 x HDD (2Tb)

Ive tried the reset BIOS button, im going to try the battery out too for good measure and i can try old GPU tomorrow... otherwise im at a loss why another motherboard spins fans for 1 sec. Has no warning beeps, does have a few lights on the board, but doesnt start up to at least the bios screen. Any Ideas???

 How old is the PSU and what's it's rating (power output) Low power output( supply) can do more harm to hard ware then too much juice!

If you try what allan says about your PSU being knackered(technical term) then try removing everything from the motherboard apart from the CPU, HSF, one stick of memory in first slot, buzzer, PSU and keyboard. Then try booting and see what happens.

Power supply is 2 years old, a TAGAN TG900-U33

I bought it at the time for upgrade-abilitly, because it had clip on sockets, so you could change between an 8 or 6 pin for the GPU for example, motherboard connector had the same option between 20 or 24 pin.

So 900W power, Max of between 20 - 26A across the various 5V 3.3V and 12V lines, according to the label.

EDIT: ok as it goes i have a 2nd pc which may have a PSU which would be ok to fit this pc, if it does have the sockets i need, ill try that... be back

 SO... any recommendations for the above specs, on what PSU to get?

  Firstly.....Good result.....finding the problem that is!

 900 watts should kill it...and then some for future proofing, Modular design is also a great idea in my book and a treat for cable management

 theres so many out there now I wouldn't dream of telling you what to buy .... Uncle Google is your best Friend!..... your budget will be the deciding factor, but remember..........the Juice that comes out of your PSU goes to every part of your investment!....Don't be a tight ASS!

 I use Ebay for fact finding.........everything is at your finger tips, giving a price structure to scroll through with your budget in mind and detailed spec sheets all in one location...........once you find the model you want.....well it's up to you who you give your fun tickets too!

I agree that there are far too many to advise on just one, but purchase a good quality like Seasonic, Enermax, Corsair, Antec or something like that.
